Is it not Nigeria?

The evil twins of PDP and APC have raped the country for years.

Thank you; someone expects ground services to be able to service every plane in every remote airport in Nigeria. Suddenly, dismount stairs is signs of a failed state.

I've read comment after comment, and the ignorance levels in our youth is really getting scary.

From the comments, one would actually think the plane flew in with the stairs.

Nothing wrong with not knowing, but if you don't know, keep quiet, read, research before blowing hot.

What are the aviation standards for dismount stairs ? Its a small Uncommon plane so what do you expect ground services ti do

this kind of things make me loose hope for this dung hill called a Nigeria

Your country is to you what you call it. In this same "dunghill" people are building mansions and driving posh cars while you are chasing away flies that visit you in your dunghill. Do you care for Baygon? You sure need it to keep em' rodents away..

Tell them.
Any topic that needs intelligence and reasoning exposes an average commenter here. If it's about politics and tribalism, they get away with the heavy load of ignorance but when it comes to real life experiences/expectations... They don't disappoint. Travel more, you'll be more enlightened.

Signs of a failed country.

It will not be a surprise if this plane were to crash but God forbid.

Are you for real? What has rolled stairs got to do with the plane crashing? I hope you're not thinking what I think you're thinking that the stairs is an appendage of the aircraft and can be folded into it. It's only light planes and jets that have such. Stairs are rolled in from the tarmac to commercial planes like this where there are no boarding or disembarking gates.

For people to actually say "nothing wrong with this stairs" ... frankly this country will never improve, because they will keep giving you rubbish and you will say nothing wrong until they will bring ladder, because they are testing your standards and the more you see nothing wrong, the more they keep doing things like this ... from Nigerian Airways to Nitel to Nepa or is it PHTC or PHCN. Just because it is locally made doesn't mean they shouldn't package it well ... this is 2017. See the train they got see the one Mexico got. It's really sad that people still think like this ... imagine a woman and her baby, with little children coming down this thing. This looks like rat trap. With the skeletal frame showing it makes it more difficult and scary to use, imagine if your walking on glass and you can see below you. Just because you get mind and it's ok for you doesn't mean it's right, somebody might be scared of heights.
Well maybe it's not a sign of a failed state but the lack of management and accountability, if at this level they can't manage stairs or provide better ... imagine in some few years this person in charge becomes a leader ... if I hear say this stairs no reflect him term for office.

[quote author=MissEdified post=63574944]We have seen better ways to alight an airplane, but yet again an Arik air plane was seen with this locally constructed stairs which put the passengers at the risk of falling off or even having their legs stuck in between the irons.

please let us value our products. Stop looking for imported product that is what killing our Naira and rise dollar

Looks like a scaffold. They must have rented scaffolds, supporting the local economy.
Re: The Stairs Used To Climb Out Of Arik Airplane (Photo) by fleetfeet: 9:32am On Dec 25, 2017
That jet costs the owners close to $100m to procure. It is a very fragile equipment a tiny dent on the fuselage can cause it to fail, or cost the owners a few millions to fix.

That is why the airside is a restricted area, and anything that comes close to the aircraft has been certified safe for both the equipment and it's passengers.

It is a good attempt to produce the stairs locally, same can b found in many other countries. Let's learn to appreciate what we have. If we encourage local production we will be amazed at te wonderful things our country will be producing in no time. Support and encouragement is all they need.

If it is safe for use, there is nothing wrong with it. It doesn't need to be high tech. It also depends on the airport. For local airports, where they have just two landings per day, there is no need to waste money grin
there is nothing bad using craps cos it's a local airports? Go to other countries and see their local airports. Nigeria local planes are all jokes and I keep hailing those flying them.
