Isoko and Urhobo are 90% same but see themselves as different tribes, same thing with Efik and Ibibio. Even Itsekiri speak almost same language with yoruba.

So why is it that ukwani/ikwere can't be separate from Igbo

Ehen, because I travelled to Warri, n when I went to Delsu area, I heard people speaking what resembles Igbo, but when I asked the people, they strongly corrected me that they are kwale not Igbo, but anytime I tell SE Igbos that kwale is not Igbo, they want to throw me in hot oil

I don't know why they take it so personal, well I can't tell you kwale people are ukwuani not Igbo, don't let anyone deceive by saying 'its like saying yorubas in kwara or Togo are not yorubas' both scenarios are different

Ukwuani speaks Igbo dialect and they are tribe of their own same way the Owerri is tribe . Igbo is made up many tribes and that is why it's called ethnic group

The isoko is a tribe and they are same with urhobo not withstanding these minority politics of Delta region and they are same ...in Lagos they are in same meeting and that is it and they know it.

Itshekiri has aligned with their Yoruba cousin and that is a fact

Ukwuani is a tribe in Igbo group and their are many Igbo proud there ...ask proudly Anioma proudly Igbo group on Facebook not this faceless forum .

don't ask any Facebook group, ask the ukwuani people themselves face to face, and since you want to confuse us with English, Igbo is an ethnic group, ukwuani is another ethnic group(not a tribe under Igbo as you claim), have you heard an owerri person telling you he is not Igbo? No cause they are while ukwuani are not. Ikwerre people even have their own social group, they are not part of ohaneze ndigbo except for political reasons

Maybe in Lagos, but in their Homeland of Delta urhobo and isoko are known as different tribes, or is isoko now a tribe in urhobo ethnic group?

Itsekiri align with Yoruba for political reasons, nothing more

What if I tell you I am from Ogume ?
What if I tell you that I grew up in Emevor

What language is Ukwuani and what is the meaning of Ukwuani?

Why do we argue

I'm think you likely didn't grow there cause people from kwale, abbi, Aboh, abavo, obiaruku even ndoni will never tell you they are Igbo, why should I take you're word over 100s of others?

Is language the only thing that indicates a culture? don't Ibibio n efik speak same language, don't urhobo and isoko speak same language? but they remain separate ethnic groups, same as ukwuani n Igbo.

Language is the only primary driver of culture the efiks and ibibios are referred as Akwa Cross people and they are in one association in Lagos

All these minorities clannish mentality is what keeps them undeveloped and exploited by others

Isn't it a shame

are you saying the Ibibio and efik people in calabar that see themselves as diff tribes don't know what they are doing? The reason they may be one in Lagos is based on brotherliness in a foreign land, just like in kano all Niger deltans attend one meeting doesn't mean they are same tribe

Using your logic, where would you group ika people of agbor, cause I know that their language has as many Edo elements as Igbo, so does their general culture

Ika is an igboid group with Edo elements just like Abiriba is igboid dialect with ibibio elements just like Itshekiri is edoid language with Yoruba elements... An average ika man understand central Igbo but can't understand Benin

That's why they are called Ika Igbo group....

Now you have said it all... brotherliness !

Thank you....ibibio understand efik and efik understand ibibio...all these are same language group and culture with small difference and they know that ...just like an average Igbo man can't distinguish between isoko and urhobo or hausa man distinguishing between Ifeanyi from Agbor and Ifeanyi from Enugu

All these minority politics and mentality totally messed the minorities up...no cohesion.

the average Yoruba can't even differentiate between Urhobo and Igbo. many Igbos don't even know the difference between Urhobo, Ijaw, ishan, Itsekiri. the fact that you can't differentiate them doesn't mean they are same tribe. or are you trying to say cause of brotherliness all Niger deltans are now one tribe?

what makes you think its not an Edo group with some Igbo elements, most agbor people I know have names like osakwe, ozegbe, nosen, ofure and I learnt the way Igbos understand them little is how bini people also understand them little

Many Agbor I know understand Bini o

I don't think they understand. they probably think Ibibio and efik are dialects of same tribe or sub groups like the way mbaise, mbano, ndoki, ngwo are sub groups of igbo.
to correct them, Ibibio has many dialects, efik has many dialects, even oron has many dialects, they are not the same tribe

Osakwe is an Igbo name sir ...and the last time I checked Ifeanyi okowa is from Agbor the name of the king of Agbor is Obi or Dein of Agbor and they are Igbo name ...( Dee or Dein) is an Igbo title for an elder man or elder ...I haven't seen ovie of Agbor or Ivie !

Agbor, also known as Ominije, is an Igbo town in Delta state, Nigeria. The indigenes of Agbor town are of Ika descent, an Igbo-speaking group. Agbor, originally called Ominije, was founded by Omini from Aguleri. Ominije means "Omini Eze Ije" which translates "Omini the King of Travel".

I've been to the SW, and the average Yoruba man calls all south-southerners "omo-ibo"

Okay, we know they generally do not identify as Igbo, but do not say 'never', because then you just come off sounding stupid. I knew quite a handful that identify as Igbo.

I was in Wolverhampton in the UK the other day and this Deeper Life girl handed me a leaflet and was trying to invite me to a fellowship in her church. I asked her which part of Nigeria she was from, and she said she was Igbo. I didn't ask her ethnicity o; just 'which part of Nigeria.'. Then she paused and added, "The Igbo part of Delta". Note, that at this point she didn't know my name or where in Nigeria I was from, so no one can say she claimed Igbo in order to form familiarity.

Anyway I be Delta boy too, so I wanted to know if she hailed from my side; so I asked her if she was Enuani or Ika or Ukwuani. She said Ukwuani.
