@ Onlytruth,

Don’t mind that mikeansy and his world of delusion. From all he said, he didn’t proffer a single way forward for Ndigbo only that we should wait till miracle happens. Pathetic!

As for APGA, I have no news on them. The problem with us, Ndigbo, was best portrayed by Orju Uzo Kalu, a heavyweight in the East, when he went and formed PPA which is now parallel to APGA. Had Orji Uzo joined APGA, APGA’s waning influence would have been reinvigorated and by now, APGA would be in control of 3 states with 2 more to capture before we start expanding outside the East and mikeansy doesn’t believe we have problem.

The level of arrogance . . . it's unbelievable ! undecided
Re: Igbo: A People In Search Of A Leader: Further Commentary by 006(m): 11:14pm On Jun 03, 2010
When truth becomes arrogance, I wonder . . .

I’m glad the author was neither me nor Igbo.

Maybe this statement sounds familiar, if it doesn't ask the author.

Essentially, the North and the West have not rid themselves of their prejudices and hatred of the Igbo. They have been using their jaundiced perception and misreading of history to thwart the Igbo presidential aspiration.

I see it here everyday.
Re: Igbo: A People In Search Of A Leader: Further Commentary by Kobojunkie: 11:16pm On Jun 03, 2010
Your "truth" is nothing but arrogance I am afraid.

Why should he proffer a solution  for ALL IBOS? Are you implying that ALL Ibos, individual groups included, have no idea or clue how to move themselves forward towards whatever goals they have set for themselves, if any?  How pathetic to think that? What buffoonery?

Sometimes it is good to count your teeth with your tongue before you speak, even post your thoughts.

006, I still post the question to all the igbos on this thread:

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-456203.0.html

why is it that you guys agree with what the author says about you but cannot accept what he says about awolowo? This is contradiction at its highest.

I believe he made a mistake in the spelling. It is Yoruba. It is just a minor mistake, so move on.

You seem to be hell bent on derailing this thread and making it Awolowos. I promptly answered your concern. Maybe if you intentionally ignored it, here it is again.

I honestly don’t know much about Awolowo on a personal level but for the fact that it was alleged that the 1966 coup plotters intended to install Awolowo as the President, then there’s something about him and his perception in those days.

Do I have the same perception of Awolowo? No I don’t, thanks to the internet, nothing is hidden anymore. I’ll not delve into it today, maybe another day.
Re: Igbo: A People In Search Of A Leader: Further Commentary by Leonidis: 11:30pm On Jun 03, 2010
Who is the 'leader' of the Yoruba people right now? Anyone you can clearly point to? No.

Yet, the Yoruba still manage to retain relevance in national politics, while at the same time being the source of one of the most credible opposition forces to the federal ruling party.

if the Delta states could agitate themselves into the second position/first, without being a single tribe, why can't the Igbo do the same? To say this is simply a leadership problem misses the point - it is far more complicated than that.
Re: Igbo: A People In Search Of A Leader: Further Commentary by 006(m): 11:33pm On Jun 03, 2010

Reread the article again, the author discussed it all.

If this article is not accurate how can you debate its statements then? Or use it as a reference? I still dont understand. For example the claims that Igbo are hardworking is false, but no igbo person has pointed out this falsity.

Please don't quote me wrong. I said: "What an article! Sabella O. Abidde, you really presented it more than I could have ever done. Thanks for the truth and unbiased opinion".

For the bolded statement, I wonder how any other ethnicity would have fared when left with just 20 pounds each after the war. Look at our position today in Nigeria in comparison with other ethnicities in terms of economic success and tell me what it entails! One could arguably say we still maintain top position or second at worst.

See you are doing it again. Reading and choosing selectively. I doubt every Igbo was given just 20 pounds each- I would wager its those who had property in non-biafra Nigeria. Let me check to verify.

You don't see my solution because you don't want to see it.

My solution is exactly how the Igbo politicians are playing it right now. From Ogbulafor, Ike Ekweremadu, to Ken Nnamani to Chukwuma Soludo, to Ikedi Ohakim, to Sullivan Chime.

The solution is work alongside others as team players.

We simply can not walk alone. And neither can any other ethnic group in Nigeria because no group has the numbers to do so.

It is also telling that most of you who make a lot of noise do so from the comfort of your homes in Canada and USA.

WTF?

The Igbo population alone is just as much the population of Ghana. Not including the other groups that inhabit the East.

So why can't we work alone? Foolish people. Nigeria was created out of imperialism.

The reason why Africa is messed up is because of these damn borders. On my Ibibio/ekoi side I have family who are now part of Cameroon.

I wonder how much Kenyan Barack Obama is. At least Barack Obama has visited Kenya twice as an adult but you’ve only visited Alaigbo just once as a child, yet every time you come up here, you seem to be an authority on anything Igbo. You cannot be Igbo by reading texts alone, you have to feel it.

Not all Ibos engage in the same sort of BLIND WORSHIP you see portrayed here on Nairaland and in most of Nigeria. Some Nigerians are actually capable of thinking for themselves.

So this "Ngwa" man has only visited Alaigbo once? Yet, he tries to speak on authority about how the Igbo feel.

This guy cannot talk about how the Ngwa feel since he only visited the place once and that was when he was a child.

He can read and write Igbo, but I doubt he can speak it.

And if he can, he probably cannot speak in his own dialect.  grin

Interesting.
