If you have no reference to your current place of employment in your CV to the newly secured job, you can just leave without doing the proper things of resigning, handing over etc.

But if the new employer would need a report from the former employer, please inform your immediate boss/line manager and resign in a professional way as stipulated by the employee handbook.

You may forfeit your basic salary for that month but you would have done the proper thing.

so if he gets a job at shell or Google he should stay back.. The only thing i won't do is to go against the employment contract.. Give them the necessary period notice or pay them.

Just discuss wit ya direct boss and made ya intention clear by saying you need his/her opinion on a better offer job dat just came ya way. "N:B you already have in mind to leave despite any advice. If he/she discouraged u to stay dat ya salary would be increase, don't stay because it's very dangerous to ya further carrier in dat job.

Den just serve dem ya resignation letter and give only the few times notice prior to ya new job resumption day (ASAP period) . All you got to loose is ya next incoming salary and som entitlements.

That's why employers will keep treating employees like trash in Nig. The documents you signed are legal and binding, in a saner clime you dare not try such if you don't want to forfeit both jobs and still pay for damages.

Here's is my piece of advice;
*speak with your line manager or HR manager as the case may, be open to them and humbly demand for their candid advice. (Mind you, you should have carried out your own SWOT on the two organizations relating to your own career pursuit)
*Relate your constraint to the HR of the new offer for possible consideration on resuming later as against immediate.

In all, you're the one that knows your goals in life; always choose options that align with your dream.

he did more than enough by trying to discuss with him. where employees are owed till the middle or end of next month before they are paid their previous month salaries. do you also realize that even if he agrees to stay according to their agreement he is not sure of his salary for that month.

My advice to any employer of Nigerians, if u must invest 1 Kobo on them, make sure they sign a training bond where they must stay for a stipulated amount of time and if they wish to leave before that time, they pay u the amount stated in the bond. Make sure the amount stated is at least 4 times the actual training cost and the bond should be fore minimum 2 years, anyone who doesn't like the job should jump into the lagoon. Wicked employees everywhere. It's a good thing banks are doing it, N2million bond for 2 years, even MFBs have started.
