We need such in Nigeria. I can't imagine being in a bus and I need few minutes of quiet and air to calm m down before getting down, then some unexposed, opinionated religious bigot will not stop preaching till the by stops. Maddening noise and air pollution everwhere

I hope you also tell the driver to put off his loud Fuji music which is coming from speakers bigger than those the bus came with.

And did drivers complain that the preaching distracts them?

Try to think before you talk. Perhaps the preaching goes on for barely 15mins and it is often enjoyable since they sing a lot and the passengers get to join in.

How would preaching in a bus distract when loud music from the same car radio does not distract?

Is the preaching in church not enough? Besides, all they do is threaten others with DEATH and HELL.Those preachers have no love in them. They are mostly bitter people who are angry at the World for failing in life.

Another reason why they shout death all the time is because life is so cheap in Nigeria as death is a dime a dozen in this failed state.

Let’s be realistic abeg.

The driver reserves the right to play Fuji in his bus. You can’t question him for playing Fuji music.

Don’t compare apples with oranges.

Your comment shows you are bitter as well. grin

Fix yourself first bro.

Nobody threatens anybody with death and hell. The right expression should be that they give you an offer and show you the consequences from choosing either offer given.

Stop being childish by claiming you are threatened with death and hell.

If it was a threat would you have the option of choosing?

With the way immorality is running wild in Ghana this one still wants to remove the few remaining boundaries managing to keep it in check.

I know it may have to do with noise disturbance but I believe that with what I have read and heard about Ghanaians, they enjoy their open air singing and open air parties and noise is a part of Ghana life especially when they engage in their secular music street noise and weekend life.

So why focus on bus preaching which is contained and not the street noise with all the blaring music of upcoming Ghanaian artists.

Where did u guys get this Ghana immoral things from?in terms of Morality Nigerians are more immoral than Ghanians,in terms of noise ,Nigeria is more polluted than Ghana in terms of prophets and churches, Nigeria has more churches than Ghana, please do your research well.

well he came to that conclusion after an accident and since he is the deputy minister of transport he has facts to back up his assertion that preaching in buses is bad for drivers......what is wrong is wrong that it involves preaching doesn't make it bad.....and as to loud music from radios, you are right. He should also look at curbing that as well if he already hasn't....it might be hard to control it for private drivers, but for public transport drivers it should be relatively easy

The reason I think is because of the video that hit front-page of Nairaland of a mature man recording himself having sex with a girl of legal age

since the people involved can't get much clicks the bloggers focused on the fact that the man is a principal and the girl is a senior secondary school girl to give the impression that what happened was pedophilia and/or rape. I should point out the girl does not belong to the school the principal belongs

Don’t mind that guy. He’s one of those that go about threatening others with death and hell in buses. Buhari needs to ban open air preaching in Nigeria. All preaching should be done in churches and mosques.

What have we gained from all the prayers we have done for over 6 decades? Why can’t Africans think for Christ’s sakes?

This World Cup is another opportunity for religious nutjobs to realize that only hard, painstaking work achieve results. Being pious and holy has nothing to do with building a functional society.

We need this in Nigeria and more. Religion has made us technically and practically lazy and unproductive. Look at super eagles, while their Croatian mates went to put heads together to discuss how to technically disarm them , they started praying! The God they were praying to, is he not also father to the Croatians? Nonsense! We are blinded by religion or rather,we hide behind religion to be docile, lazy, unproductive and plain stupid.

Now you get my point. Loud music is rampant in public buses and you often see the driver dancing to it while driving.

That to me is more of a distraction and not as serious as preaching in the bus which is just a lone voice.

I hear Ghana and social life are 5 and 6 so loud music is almost like the air they breath

prayers have been working wonderfully well for us so far which is why Nigerians keep praying for long life but has life expectancy of 54.5 (the 7th lowest in the world) while a prayerless Japan comprising of atheist majority has a life expectancy of 83.7 (highest in the world)

This is also why Nigeria is filled with a population that all claim to be "God Fearing" but has the 14th highest crime rate in the world while an atheist Japan filled with "sinners" "Reprobate" "people who don't fear god" "heathens" "infidels" have the lowest crime rate in the world https://www.numbeo.com/crime/rankings_by_country.jsp

A Ghanaian told me directly how very immoral her country is to the extent that junior students get pregnant at 13 years of age all over the place, child rape cases are everywhere and lesbians and homosexuals advertise their favours openly and are not ashamed, prostitution is regarded as a white collar job there (according to her). Money can make the average Ghanaian girl and woman be they married or single to do anything.

The religious zealots(especially my Christian brethren) should see this. There has to be a separation of church from state.

The moment millions of Christians wake up from their slumber and begin to work as opposed to just praying, our rich and mighty G.Os will go out of business as they will have no one to scam any further. We can’t just continue like this.

See what white people are teaching us in the World Cup? Can’t we see what a tiny nation like Iceland did? They are so compact and efficient. It has nothing to do with prayer.

We need to unshackle ourselves from the chains of religion. I am sad for Nigeria.

Christian leaders are effectively shutting down Christianity the best possible ways they can

The other day, I watched Andre Roberts, the owner of Faith TV Network, explain in despair and disappointment how Christian CEOs of blue-chip companies refused to advertise their companies' products on their Christian network, saying that they didn't want to make the impression that they sell Christian products.

He also met with owners of hotels in South Africa to allow the channel join the network of channels which hotel customers enjoy as they holiday in such hotels, but these hospitality industry players blatantly turned down the request, saying that if they do it for him, they would have to do it for others.

One thing is certain: everyone must answer to their deeds on earth: politicians, poor and rich men - no exceptions

It makes no business sense for a hotel to air religious programs except the owners place religion above profits' generation. It goes against business ethics.

@Post: Kudos. Preach about your religion without constituting public nuisance.

Butterflyleo:

I do not know about the poster you quoted, but I do this anytime it becomes a nuisance, ditto other passengers. The difference between playing songs and preaching is that the latter is emotional and personal - not everyone professes your religion. You don't go about preaching the Bible in a bus where they are different adherents of religious beliefs. If everyone decides to do same, you won't like the outcome - noisy and disturbing.

Religion is a private affair, keep it so.

There's a thin line between being a nuisance and preaching.

Some can be very pleasurable, and kick in some humor while driving home a punchline that will cause a positive changing effect.

Some can be so judgemental and annoying.

Even at that,we still need some level of sanity.
If they are so interested in saving people from eternal perdition they should atleast do that with sme level of consideration for others who might feel disturbed.
Religion is meant to make humans sane not mad.

you are giving your point of view for a situation in Ghana......that loud music might be deemed bad.....it doesn't make preaching in buses good....what is bad is bad.....and like I said if the deputy minister of transport says preaching in a bus is bad for drivers, then it is bad for drivers......safety doesn't expect you to wait for a thousand deaths or a million deaths before you deem an act unsafe.

And personally.....for someone that has lived on both sides of the divide (noisy music, church noise, generators etc and noiseless environment) the latter is a million times better

Even in public buses in Nigeria, it's always pasted there, No Preaching, No Hawking but, our Christian faithfuls will make u feel like a devil if u call their attention to it.

It happened to me once from Yola, told d woman to move away from my side coz of the noise. U needed to hear d insults she showered me with. The more I kept quite, the more infuriating she got

Of course a noiseless environment is preferred for all but it has to be handled holistically this is why NOISE LIMITS are set because they know noise cannot be completely eradicated.

Oftentimes, its hatred for something or intolerance for a thing that makes it a target but not because it was the right thing to do.

Its like in Nigeria where there are almost zero noise limits, car noise everywhere, horns and sirens blaring anyhow, people shouting, neighbours holding parties in the same compound where you live with no regard for you, yet people focus on churches and mosques and leave the clubs and such open air parties alone.

Something isn't right.

Many here on the nairaland religious section known as atheists would disagree with you as they believe abortion isn't abominable but underaged pregnancy is. So to them which do you think is more abominable?

I guess to each his own.
