Wrong! He failed to be effective bcosbhe was sloppy even for a 10. We all know Mikel of those days even if he doesn't do anything we are sure of him winning tackles in the midfield. Mikel Obi is a fantastic captain and footballer. His aura off the pitch and on the pitch is a necessary moral boost to our well knitted team that showed discipline despite the loss in our match against Croatia that couldn't try what it did to 'Almighty' Argentina against the Super Eagles. With the Argentine loss yesterday, I can't but reemphasize my total support for Rohr, Mikel Obi and Super Eagles -who as a team might have addressed the flaws in the last game- to go pummel Iceland with at least 2 goals margin. So you know better. Right? I think you are the eediot here. He played the 10 role throughout the qualifiers and Nigeria played so good with 2 matches to spare. You didn't complain that time. All cos of a match in which he even played well but Nigeria was beaten, you are busy complaining. If the coach deploys him in DM role and we are beaten, your likes will come out to say again that, why did they change him from the creative role he played throughout the qualifiers. Cut him some slack. He played good.

Mikel Obi failed to be effective against Croatia, same thing happened to Messi, Aguero and Higuain. This is not by accident. Croatia are set-up in a way to neutralize the threat of opponents. Give Mikel some support, he could still shine at this world even as a No.10 — Jose Mourinho take note.

I'm very sure Mourinho was quoted out of context. He may just have given a simple opinion but they paint it like he feels the coach is stupid for playing him as a 10. 10 OR DM, Mikel is cool and good to go.

I just don't understand why playing as 10 has suddenly become an issue...Mikel played as 10 throughout d qualification matches and just because an offday against Croatia we now remembered he's been playing as a defensive midfielder.. Nigeria vs south Africa match comes to my mind when Mikel didn't play, we played so badly and we were beaten 0-2
Take it or leave it he's still d best midfielder we've got now, the only thing he lacks now his pace and he won't be the first midfielder to lack that..
Andrea Pirlo lacks pace too but he was one of the best midfielder during his time...
I just wish and hope we win today and make our qualification for the next round a bit easier...
