There's a popular trend now that "Marriage is not an achievement". How true is this?

Is this a subjective or absolute statement?

What do you think guys. Is marriage an achievement?

The Bible categorically stated that "He who finds a wife has found a good and obtained favour from the Lord." Only that statement alone is enough to convince me that Marriage is indeed a beautiful thing.

Yes! To Nigerians mostly girls it's their greatest achievement. U dare not miss ur naija girl relatives wedding.

To the whites it's the least on their To-Do-List.

When one gets to marry a man who's not a misogynist, a man who loves and respect who you are and a man who doesn't try to bend you to who he's...... Na achievement for this kind of country that trained our men to see women as nothing.

Only if it counts to the individuals concerned.
Only the married can answer for sure. kiss
Generally and personally-speaking? NO! kiss

The purpose and sanctity of marriage have been contaminated and adulterated over the years. Marriage is mostly a JOKE and may soon become extinct.

This is subjective and not absolute. To some , it is a must do, therefore it is an achievement. To others, it is no big deal . we don't all have to be married. It is quite hard to stay married you know, and it is also quite hard to stay unmarried. To each its own. In all let's respect people's decision to either stay married , divorced, or single.

I can tell you categorically that marriage to most 20-35 year old female is like winning the world cup.

It depends on your priorities or what you consider relevant .to some people having a baby, a job or a house is an achievement while to some others it's marriage so it varies from one individual to the other

Marriage is only an achievement if the marriage is healthy, loving, and fulfilling. A dysfunctional marriage isn't an achievement. Nor is a "struggle love" marriage where the woman has lowered her standards and settled for mediocrity and mistreatment (adultery, abuse, financial irresponsibility, misogyny, sexism, male chauvinism).

Finding someone who you can confidently say you love... And are willing to spend the rest of your life with; while they are also willing to spend their life with you??
Personally, I think it's a beautiful milestone that one should be proud of and grateful for. An achievement? Definitely.

If nor be achievement, why are there as many unmarried ready people on earth?

Even Government gives you a certificate for getting married!

So....irrespective of what some morally bankrupt people say....it does not change a single thing about the truth:
that

Marriage is an achievement!

I bow for you o..

if you dey fall for that crap....
that marriage nor be achievement!

E easy to marry?

Exactly.

If you're truly a man, after finding the "right" woman, doing the needful and making her your wife as well as running a family indefinitely with her etc nobody will tell you if it's an achievement or not. Same applies to ladies.

I have observed that only bitter, frustrated single people & couples in failed marriages will belittle the importance of marriage, just to make themselves feel better.

By definition, an achievement simply means accomplishing a set goal or objective.

If as a young man or woman, you have it at the back of your mind (whether subtly or overtly) to meet another person, to fall in love and commit, to start a family with this person by contracting a marriage, then it's safe to say you have set a goal for yourself.
Subsequently by the time you do get married, it is also safe to say you have accomplished a set goal and have earned for yourself an achievement.

Marriage is a PERSONAL achievement to anyone who has it in mind to be married in the future. It is not a national achievement, community achievement, or family achievement.
This here is one of the reasons I am not a big fan of the ceremonial aspect of weddings as I don't see the point in having so much fanfare over something that is just beginning and still has a very long way to go.
