We all know the reason Google decided to kill Microsoft.whats wrong with Google.the fact that they allowed iOS to survive actually showed they were scared of competition.iphone is not even a competition to android.android market share is like 98% and apple is 17%. Why couldn't they just allow Microsoft to trend.well here are the main reasons Google felt like Microsoft was going to take them lead

1: innovative ideas: Microsoft was handled by the former kings of mobile industry,Nokia. Nokia brought so many ideas to the Microsoft world.for example.nokia made use of Carl Zeiss for its camera,Windows phone had very good cameras then with so much support for advanced option when taking pictures.i remember how I can tweak my lumia 925 camera to adjust to my preference.well on Apple it wasn't like that.google knew Nokia would dominate,atleast their name alone was popular.

2 Hotmail and bling;Microsoft had its own mailing service which I currently still use even here on nairaland. It was a competition for android,because most operating system on pc uses Microsoft account.you can't possibly download an app on Microsoft without having a Microsoft account.and then the account was merged with mail. Microsoft also had a search engine of its own,unlike apple that has Safari as it browser Microsoft did not only have search engine but also a browser,internet explorer which the default search engine was bling.bling also had bling feeds etc.

3 live tiles and full app integration ; if you ever used a windows phone you know how beautiful the live tiles where.it made the phone lively and unique. Windows phone was having full app integration,such as Facebook.you don't need to open a Facebook account to actually view what your friends post.just go to you contacts and swipe to Facebook and you see all thier posts.that was bomb

Microsoft also experimented with features that were different to other mobile platforms, and some of the concepts still haven’t really made their way to iOS or Android:

Kid’s Corner – this let parents share a separate account on their device with restricted apps and games for kids.

Dedicated search button – you could search anywhere (with Bing, hmm) in the OS, regardless of the app.

Browser address bar – Microsoft placed its browser address bar at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to use your thumbs to navigate around.
People hub – Microsoft’s hub concepts meant the contacts on Windows Phone could pull photos and information from social networks straight into your address book.

Unified messaging – Microsoft’s messages hub let Windows Phone users chat via SMS or messaging apps like Skype in a single thread without needing to juggle separate apps.

Also you can sideload apps on Microsoft phones.you can download apps and install without having to do it from the app store.google knew this was the end of it. If they leave Microsoft with Nokia at their back they wouldn't have come this far,then they actually ended any support it planned for it. Google refused to build apps for Microsoft but kept reading for iPhone.
YouTube official app never came to windows, Gmail never did.

And youtube was the greatest of them all.most people spend hours on youtube.and when they notice they can't actually have youtube on windows they ditched to the phones that had it.


I still miss windows phone.

Gone are the days of Window Mobile. those live tiles where the bomb, the os was so fluid, you hardly experience lagging and the os doesn't crash.still miss it

I actually miss it more.i remember how I got insider builds on lumia 925 and upgraded to windows 10 even when the phone did not support it. The phone Was almost open source

I wish Windows phones can come back.
