The countdown begins; there are certain newspaper columnist that make you run to newstands during their days of publication to grab their newspaper(s), I mean columns of certain newspapers you hate to miss, the newspaper and the columnist involved in the article. I know we have so many garbage newspaper columns and columnist in Nigeria today but we still have exceptions and those that meet international standards. These few exceptions are who I want us to celebrate for making reading their articles worthwhile so let the countdown begin, who is your best newspaper columnist in Nigeria? Let's go

Ok I go first, mine is Steve Nwosu, backpage of sunnewspapers on wednesdays. That man is a wordsmith. The way he plays with words in his articles is amazing. You never and I mean NEVER catch a bit of boredom or loss of interest reading his column. You want to see the last word of the column but you dont want to stop. This is in contrast to 96% of columnist we have in Nigeria. The wits he adds to his columns makes reading more fun. That guy is good and also the best in Nigeria hands down. I appreciate his work of art and I believe most Nigerians with penchant for good articles do. He is to Nigerian columns what micheal jackson(God bless his soul) is to pop music and will also be appreciated anywhere in the world. Am out

I would have said none if this was the politics section.
but since it is a Literature/Writing section and the aim is good writing,prose and thought process, i would go for Reuben Abati.
He is good.
Whether i believe the contents of his and his colleagues columns is another matter entirely.

Idowu Akinlotan of The Nation Newspapers (on Sundays).

For me is Reuben abati Of the Guardian and Femi Adesina of the Sun they are simply the best.

Tatalo Alamu of The Nation. I will never forget his story on Murtala, the best piece ever to grace a newspaper's flesh.

In my opinion,Reuben Abati of Guardian newspaper stands head and shoulder among his peers.My Fridays and Sundays are incomplete without reading his article.The clarity with which he writes is simply outstanding.May I also add here that is eloquence is compelling.

My best newspaper columnist in Nigeria remains Uncle Tunde Fagbenle. I have a collection of his great articles in book form. Tunde Fagbenle writes with a passion and he is very exposed. Apart from him, I enjoy the columns of Reuben Abati and the great Sonala Olumhense. Segun Adeniyi [ THISDAY ], was also a favourite of mine before he joined the Presidency Cheers.

So i also thought bro, untill his daily Editor opened up a can of worms on how the guy had been enmeshed in bribery/corruption with  thieving politicians( the same people he makes us believe are in the devil's 1st eleven). Instead of him to refute the aligations or otherwise, he resigned and ran away (with all his loot, of course).

Forget all these columnists, some of them are worse than the politicians they villify daily/weekly.

He has this way of entertaining as well as educating u at the same time wit
a nice sense of humour.
ok, i accept, i am not a newspaper person, i find nwspapers a bore, but like they say
there is an exception to every rule and STEVE NWOSU is the exception in my own case.
His write ups is so echanting that i cudnt but just reply to one of his columns.
the Man is just brillant!
