Anywaz, back to your original question. As much as I love Ekiti state, our Gov is not changing anything. I need to retire to a place that will feed my luxurious lifestyle, like Lagos. Things are changing, seeing as ppl dey vouch for Lagos.  Lagos would be so perfect if the security was good, if the police were clean, if the environment were clean, good plumbing and water system etc. I'm giving Lagos 40 more years to change itself.

Hmm. So basically you guys enjoyed the "Lagos Dream", while we . . . .nvm. Well, I'm hoping that Fashola and the next Gov to fix Lagos up, might be my retirement home lol
Ofcourse, there was a time when being poor didn't mean poverty. It just meant you were poor. Back then you could still afford to feed self and live. You had access to water, light and good roads. Even if you had to plow your small farm everyday to make ends meet, it was ok.

Now, even farmers live in poverty. The poor live in miserable poverty and we sit thumbing our noses at them at every chance we get. The whole state, even Country is divided into two unequal parts - the have-nots and the have-it-alls. Government seems to care less and less for the have nots because they matter less and less by the year. It is heartbreaking when you think of how much better things used to be and where we seem to be heading fast.

Wow. . . . now I feel worms in my belly. embarassed

Serious matter, true about the division. But I partly blame THE PEOPLE for allowing the victimization of democracy. How can they let dirty politicians continue to run Nigeria the way it is. I know that it's easier said than than, but it's being done before. Where is the voice? The movement? Or dont we have a strong voice amongst the millions of Nigerians in Nigeria?

Everybody's priority is to get rich-->richer by all means.

I do blame the people as well, but I am not too sure that many care anymore. Our culture is one that praising riches, even ill-gotten riches are no more classified in that manner. Once you are rich, even if you killed 100 poor people to get rich, you are rich and 'worthy to be praised'.

The new tone is "it is your fault and your choice to be poor", and you should not expect any help from anyone, even government because you do not deserve it or something along those lines. And so in reaction, even the door go for your neck if they know it is their way up the ladder. It is scary! Even Family is no longer as safe as it used to be.

Seriously, I find this funny!
Is it ok to make unproven declarations? A model in a glass box? Where is this so called model, is it at the museum in Onikan? Who made it? Was is Bruce Onobrakpayeya, Chike Onuorah or who? Why is there only one known photo of it?
You should be able to answer every single one of the above questions, otherwise na rumours you de spread! grin
Stop expelling hot air jare! Imagine, spreading b*llsh!t with confidence!

You dis Beaf sef. Na wa for you OOO !!!! If the guy is making "unproven allegations" then so are you !!!! I know you are dogmatically stubborn but must  it cloud your reasoning , logic and utterances this badly? Go back and look at the picture . Look at the whole arm of the guy going through the window. Does the hand look normal to your at all or does it appear more like a caricature even a child can denote easily?

In any case , you lost objectivity when , instead of looking carefully at the picture, you repeated many time , in obvious support of the thread starter, that folks have a problem "accepting reality" . What "reality"? The "reality" concocted in the imagination of you and the thread starter? This is not Lagos today and I certainly dont see scenes like these getting about. If at all what the picture depicts is happening , then it must be extremely rare . Nobody , except someone totally ignorant or up to mischief, can claim that this picture is an accurate depiction of life in Lagos today.

Stop twisting matters. Its simple, can you answer any of the questions I asked? If you can't, you are simply spreading rumours. People have come on to say the picture is various things, from a photoshop fabrication to a clay model. Obviously, these people (including yourself) have never created a computer graphic nor have they ever sculpted anything; but, hey! The average street person, is noisy even in ignorance.

The second dishonest thing you do, is go on about "Lagos of today". Is the story of the picture really about Lagos or has the OP not made it clear it is a Nigerian issue? To me, it is a description of a lot that is wrong in the Nigerian approach. Have such scenes occured? Many here have claimed to have witnessed such or been victims of such scrambles (including myself).

If you cannot tell me who moulded your realility denial into an "artwork" or where that "artwork" currently is or why just a single picture of it exists, then you've simply got to run along.

I am a fan of Wole Soyinka's but lately I have been asking what the heck he is even trying to do. He "ALIGNS" himself with one group against the other and I wonder if we are really fighting the good fight that way. Many see this as simply playing along with one side of the problem and his many 'tantrums' don't help matters even.

He's simply the AL Sharpton of Nigeria. Just there to make a wave.
What has really changed or been done since his preaching? Nothing.

I think my case with him is his message, and not that he is even preaching. And that goes same for Al Sharpton and Jesse James(I really don't like these men).

I am all for preaching and speaking up, but I am not sure what to make of what I have heard and read him Soyinka say in the last 6 months of so.

True to type , Oga Beaf resorts to not-so-subtle insult when cornered. Can you not show some integrity for once? You debunk the viewpoint of those who claim the model is photoshoped or a work of clay , in your haste to proclaim this model/picture real, yet you fail to comment about how the hand of the dude trying to go through the window is obviously grossly disproportionate to the entire hand in what has to be artistic exageration or innacuracy of scale . There are also many other things wrong with that model/picture to indicate it is not a real picture taken by a camera . If you want to continue to pretend not to see those things , so as to obdurately continue your defence of a flawed stance , then continue to insult others who can see without bias .

The second dishonest thing you do, is go on about "Lagos of today". [b]Is the story of the picture really about Lagos or has the OP not made it clear it is a Nigerian issue? To me, it is a description of a lot that is wrong in the Nigerian approach.

Beaf , stop digging a deeper hole for yourself. Learn to walk away so as to salvage some integrity. Soon , everyone will typecast you as the poster who defends a prior position , at all cost , to include falsifying what is written, even when the premises of your arguement has been discredited. It is not the first time I , and others , have pointed you out either. Here you are clearly lying about the OP utterance/interpretation. The OP , with his very first post above the picture supplied , makes it clear he is talking about Lagos:

Survival of the fittest. This is what at least 90 % of the over 15 million Lagosians pass thru on daily basis. Would not live there for all the world

It is clear to all , except yourself, that the OP is talking about Lagos. He is also clearly insinuating that he "would not live there" (Lagos) because the type of chaos presented in the model/picture is indicative of Lagos today. It is only in your decietful mind that the OP "made it clear it is a Nigerian issue" . Admitting to being wrong does not demean you. Never admitting to being wrong, on the other hand , when you clearly are , makes you appear immature and shallow. Shame on you . The OP says , wildly and erroneously, "This is what at least 90% shocked shocked of the over 15 million Lagosians pass thru on daily basis" and you still have the nerve to patronise the intelligence of Nairalanders as per what the OP is actually saying? Why did you not inspect the wildly false , incredibly ridiculous , downright wrong  and logic-defying assertion of the OP , if you are at all objective , before you became his spokesman and spin doctor ?

All you are doing is waxing sentimental, because you simply cannot prove that you aren't rumour mongering and stretching facts; things for which sadly, you have past form (and which I believe this overzealous go at me is all about).

As I said before , you are shameless. Telling folks you have never met , never mind their personal/proffessional knowledge  or background , that they "have never created a computer graphic" is not only an insult but also an indication of how you have no manners or a sense of decorum !!! My 4 year old daughter already creates her own personalised computer graphic games using popularly available softwares !!!

All you are doing is waxing sentimental, because you simply cannot prove that you aren't rumour mongering and stretching facts (things for which sadly, you have past form).

My man , sadly for you , everyone can see that you are the "rumour monger" . I have proven above , beyond doubt, that you blatantly misinterpreted and distorted the utterances of the OP to support your discredited position. You are clearly the one guilty of "stretching facts".

Lets not get hung on this stuff if you can't address any of the simple questions I asked, I'd love to move on and not argue about made up stuff. Thank you.

What is there to address when the main arguements/interpretations you predicate your postings on are intentionally decietful and clearly wrong?

Please explain , rather than dancing around like Sugar Ray , why you distorted the OP's utterance and gave a totally decietful interpretation of what he writes when it is crystal-clear   to all Nairalanders that the OP is saying the opposite of what you assign to him . The dude is clearly deluded . I prefer to respect everyone and take them at face value till I am given reasons to think otherwise. If Beaf says he is a "bonafide artist" then I think we can defer to his artistic knowledge since many of us are not proffesional artists. One thing I do know and understand  , right back from secondary school art class , is the frustration of trying to scale down objects accurately . It seems that , with the disproportionately large hand of the man trying to climb in through the window and other grossly obvious innacuracies of scale, whoever created this model/picture has failed to scale down dimensions to ratios that are accurate and true. This can happen if free hand , the materials (perhaps clay) or software (photo editing) you are using does not allow you to 'pare' your mental image correctly.
