The oba of benin is far & above the oni of ife. He went to see Prince Charsle for a valid & concrete reason unlike some other kings and if you must compare him with any yoruba kings it should be the Alafin of oyo who is truly thr number one king of the yorubas not the oni who's stool never attained the status of an empire & traditional is just a traditional priest who the british later coined to become a king. If you look closely you will see other kings staff being told to wait behind but the oba of benin's stood at his back firmly portraying the kings supreme authority and also you should be reminded that the kingdom of ife originates from benin. This is preposterous for the reverred monarch of the Bini kingdom to leave his domain to go to the land of the Gbagyi people, a servitude tribe to the reverred Bini empire, just for the purpose of welcoming a foreign prince. Not just a prince but a prince from a kingdom that desecrated the ancient Bini kingdom and exiled Oba Ovaranwen. The real Ewuare the great would not have honoured such invitation, but rather would have asked the crown prince of Bini to welcome such visitor in Uselu.

The airport in Benin city, Edo state, was brought to a temporary standstill as the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, returned from Abuja where he went to meet the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles. 

The monarch was welcomed by the sons and daughters of the kingdom who gathered in their numbers and waited for him to arrive at the airport. 

Meanwhile, the Oba on Tuesday, asked the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, to lend his voice to the call for the British empire to return all the ancient Benin artefacts that were taken by the British authorities in 1897.

Speaking at the parley the visiting British royal had with royal fathers this evening, the Benin monarch told Prince Charles that the repatriation of the artefacts would enable him establish Oba Palace Museum for the promotion of tourism in his kingdom.

Other traditional rulers that attended the meeting were the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi; Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe; Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, and others.

What is the need of sitting close when Ooni was there only for photo-op? The Oba made a demand for repatriation and that dwarfs the rest who didn't know what to do with this all important trip. Wether they return it or not, the Oba will be judged by history as having the balls to make that request.. that was the reason he opted not to sit close to him because HRM, Oba Ewuare wants to be taken seriously!

He learnt the Prince was only visiting Abuja, so he didn't want to seen as a coward by grumbling only about the stolen artefacts and not asking for it, hence he traveled there to ask. You guys forget, that Oba of Benin was not the only king that went to visit Prince Charles.
In fact the most prominent kings in Nigeria went to go visit Prince Charles.
Ooni of Ife, Obi of Onitsha, Sultan of Sokoto and Emir of Kano all flew in to Abuja from their palaces to meet Prince Charles.
It was not only Oba of Benin that flew in to meet Prince Charles.
Please try and be impartial and fair and treat everyone and every tribe with respect and love
