Former President George H.W. Bush died on Friday the 30th of December 2018 at the age 94.
Well known as the quintessential Texan, Bush was born and spent his earlier years on the East Coast. He grew to be so endeared to the Texan Life and adopted Houston his hometown following his early success in the states oil-rich fields in 1948.
The young Yale University graduate who had just served in World War II came to the town of Odessa accompanied by his wife and son (later US president ) George W Bush. After a few years, the Bush family moved to the city of Houston, where the political legacy that would span several decades began.
Bellow is a brief timeline of his political
1962 - Bush ran for a Senate seat but lost.
1966 - Elected to the House of Representatives.
1971 - Lost a second term bid to the Senate.
1971 - President Nixon appoints Bush Ambassador to the United Nations.
1980 - Elected Ronald Reagan's vice president.
1984 - Re-elected as Vice President
1988 - Bush announces his intent to run for office as early as 1985 and became well known for stating "Read my lips: no new taxes". Bush becomes Americas 41st President.
1992 - Bush losses a second term bid for office to the Democratic candidate Bill Clinton.
After serving as president, Bush and his wife, who died in April of 2018, returned to Houston. They could have moved anywhere after his public office service, yet they chose to return home where it all started.
Over the years Bush and his wife Barbara would strengthen their bond with the city through their donations and charitable support. The executive director of the University of Houston’s Hobby School of Public Affairs; Jim Granato once said: "His roots are here and he’s considered a Texan even if he doesn’t have the accent”.
Bush is fondly remembered by Ricardo Molina, whose family owns one of Bush’s favorite Tex-Mex restaurants.Molina said even though far away in Washington DC, his restaurant would sometimes ship food to the white house. "He never forgot anyone's name. He would take his time to shake your hand and share a few words with us. He really made you feel like a real person" Molina said.
Sunday Mass at his favorite church,St. Martin’s Episcopal was presided by his pastor; Rev. Russell J. Levenson Jr. The Reverend acknowledged what was on every parishioner's mind about the former president's death. He further urged the parishioners not to be dismayed by the recent loss as it would have been Bushes wish to have them focused on the mass.
A four-day long event has been prepared for Bush to include ;
Day 1: A state funeral at Washington's National Cathedral,
Day 2: A private service at his church in Houston and
Day 3: Public viewings in both cities(Washington & Houston)
Day 4: He will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara and their daughter Robin who died in 1953.

Ceremonies will include a missing man formation flyover at the presidential library.
