Shut up, where did he mention anything like hate?
Nonsense!

Do u have to mention hate for anyone to know what u are implying?

My point is make ur point but stop the "no igbo director reach these yoruba directors bla bla bla"

See a movie as a movie and not as an ethnic product. I hated wedding party, I didn't even look at it from yoruba point of view. I didn't even write a review. I just didn't like it and no one heard me speak or mention yoruba this and that.

Dumb yoruba insecure idiot, of course everything that relates to Igbos is always competition to your effeminate whining pu**ies, see how a mere thread on a movie brought out the morbid bigotry in you. All over Facebook and other social media platforms, the movie is getting rave reviews from not only Nigerians but other Africans and even foreigners home and abroad, my Ghanaian, Liberian, South African and Cameroonian etc friends were even praising the movie more than the Nigerians! It even took a foreigner to convince me to see the movie on Netflix until I did today. While the movie was NOT Oscar worthy by any standards , it definitely did enough to promote the beauty of the Igbo business acumen, language, and ingenuity...AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERED TO ME. For all your hype about all the thrash movies produced by your yoruba geniuses, how come none of them aren't getting this much attention internationally like Lion heart? Despite splashing more budgets and casting all the "grin list" oyinbo actresses like your useless wedding party and the likes, yet a multi billion dollar company like Netflix appreciated the simplicity and authenticity of Lion heart and rushed to put it on their platform!

Keep hating till you die, but all facts and indices will always point to Igbos as the true pioneers of Nollywood. Name any yoruba actor or actress besides maybe Olu Jacob and Omotola that are more popular than the likes of Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Genevive, Rita Dominic, Kanayo, Clem Ohameze, Kenneth Okonkwo etc...

No mind that NOBODY......

The kind of hatred SOME or should I say MANY " their people" have on Igbos eh.....they find it very difficult to hide it....Very few of them don't hate the igbos ....I notice it every time......but we go see who go tire.....

And no Ben Murray Bruce didn't start jack shit
.go to Wikipedia Yoruba's have been making money since d 70s and 80s it was when u guys flooded d market with cassettes it collapsed.

Even d first movie to make money for siverbird galleria owned by Ben Murray Bruce was irapada a complete yoruba movie,it made 5 million naira the highest grossing movie of the time, why didn't any Igbo film make profit for him rubbish.

Irapada opened Nigeria cinema up and that's we started getting international recognition.

U think kunle afolayan is call Nigeria Spielberg for nothing? Shior!!

Igbos were also making films in the 70s but the first home videos were made by Igbos as well.
The richest actors, directors, producers, etc are Igbos

Even Glo sponsors professor johnbull and it's produced by Chidi Chikere.
Eat your hearts out. You can never see our backs in Nollywood. We got that side

I appreciate your comments. However, I don’t think ppl should be discouraged from watching the movie. I watched and in my opinion it was great. Others should too and make a judgment.

Secondly, i don’t think it’s overhyped compared to how ebony studios do publicity, lion heart is a learner.

KingThreatzz:

I used to hate Nigerian films. But some movies have actually impressed me. Sylvia, 73, King of Boys. Those had substance. Lionheart cannot compare to any of those stated. It is a good try but quite overhyped. It's a movie that doesn't engage its viewers. A real good movie grips you. Over 10, i give it a 3. What was really spectacular about it was the quality cameras, lighting and color-grading. The sound quality was good but direction was awful, those comic sounds should not be used for Drama movies. It's obvious, netflix bought this to support the Nigerian film industry, not for its quality.

Don't say that boss. I'm Igbo. There are good takes one can see from the movie. The actors were great. Peter of P-Square part was unnecessary. Same with Phyno. Actors don't make good movies stand out. Good story and directing does. It is when you have a good story, good directing that good actors kill their parts.

Talking as about the story. You must agree with me that there was no conflict in the movie. Many questions were not answered. Did Lionheart win the BRT contract? The BRT contra t was central to the movie. Sadly, we didn't see then end of the conflict. The character that Pete Edochie played took borrowed huge sum of money to buy buses so as to be able to win the BRT contract. We don't know.

The camera angle was bad as well. Most of the scenes were outright bad.

Negroes like you ehn, they have to get everything right in the storyline that won't undermine your intelligence. That's the way forward. Nice review.

Funny enough, i dont like any of Ebonylife films. They always miss the point. If we dont point out flaws in Nigerian movies, these people will keep dishing garbage and celebrating mediocrity. All over the world movie industries are developing and they start by having great storylines. Why should we be off?

Netflix has lots of shitty movies to the point that when I see a movie is owned by Netflix, I just immediately skip it because it's usually crap. You keep hammering on millions of dollars. Do you know what that is?

Please, stop viewing things based on tribalism or else you will never progress.

No ethnic group in Nigeria has a victim mentality like the Igbo. There are several minority ethnic groups, some of them with sizeable numbers, that are never looked upon. But every single time, it's always the Igbos claiming marginalisation. The hate most of you have for the people down North and West, they don't even think of you lot that way.

Why do you lot always, always see things from the ethnic perspective first? Why?!

I have a few Igbo friends that I love to bits. I have someone that I also love to the moon and back. If not, I would have most likely given up on the entire Igbo ethnic group.

I understand where u are coming from. I share same sentiment too.. But wedding party suffered the same fate. The problem is usually lack of action. I watched wedding party and I was angry with the storyline. Kinda same I want to marry u, her family no like me, his family no like me but we ended up marrying last last..

Unlike the lionheart, this story line is about business. Though I understand the script lacks suspense. Went too fast and scenes are predictable. But for bringing something quite new to us in terms of business enterprise of the east, promoting the culture of east and north in a modern way, I love that. I think that is what she wanted to achieve. The problem is with the lack of suspense and action.
I believe your points are cogent. Nice one

Lionheart - 4.5/10

Solid performances from the main cast, clear visuals, good directing/cinematography, good pacing, a positive message but very little creativity in the plot. If lesser known actors had taken on these roles instead I doubt the movie would be as popular, but I get that its debut on Netflix is a defining moment for Nigerian cinema.

Very, very irrelevant.
Pete Edochie + Osuofia are top, top, dogs. Natural actors. When they retire, it will be mightily hard to replace them.
As for the rest of the movie lipsrsealed
I watched the Korean horror movie, “The Wailing” during the break. And then Lionheart, for the culture.
My take: Nollywood scriptwriters should learn from their Korean counterparts. Too predictable and monotonous. From “the Wedding Party” to “Lionheart”, it’s the same. No twists, no suspense, almost like an article.
