A story well told! If you don't understand Igbo language like me, you will fall in love with that language. The dialogues in Igbo language were rich.
I also love the fact that the uncle wasn't a conventional wicked man.
Story well told.

Dumb yoruba insecure idiot, of course everything that relates to Igbos is always competition to your effeminate whining pu**ies, see how a mere thread on a movie brought out the morbid bigotry in you. All over Facebook and other social media platforms, the movie is getting rave reviews from not only Nigerians but other Africans and even foreigners home and abroad, my Ghanaian, Liberian, South African and Cameroonian etc friends were even praising the movie more than the Nigerians! It even took a foreigner to convince me to see the movie on Netflix until I did today. While the movie was NOT Oscar worthy by any standards , it definitely did enough to promote the beauty of the Igbo business acumen, language, and ingenuity...AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERED TO ME. For all your hype about all the thrash movies produced by your yoruba geniuses, how come none of them are getting this much attention internationally like Lion heart? Despite splashing more budgets and casting all the "Z list" oyinbo actresses like your useless wedding party and the likes, none of them made it past the majorly Nigerian audience and cinemas... a multi billion dollar company like Netflix appreciated the simplicity and authenticity of Lion heart and rushed to put it on their platform!

Keep hating till you die, but all facts and indices will always point to Igbos as the true pioneers of Nollywood. Name any local yoruba actor or actress besides maybe Olu Jacob and Omotola that are more popular than the likes of Pete Edochie, Nkem Owoh, Genevive, Rita Dominic, Kanayo, Clem Ohameze, Kenneth Okonkwo etc...the reason lots of African and Carribean countries know lots of Nigerian words like "tufiakwa", "Chineke", "Igwe must hear this..." and many more are because of the huge cultural impacts of Nollywood which of course promotes the Igbo culture MORE IN THE LIMELIGHT than any other in Nigeria... FACTS NOT FEELINGS.

Abeg it is OYIBO not oyinbo, dont follow those pained Yorubas to spoil our spelling. Dobt mind those Yorubas they will always claim things they don't know how it started. The whole of Africa today know Nollywood with Igbo language, go to Kenya as a Nigerian and they will call you Igwe. Igbo is Nollywood and Nollywood is Igbo period. Ask those yorubas how many yorubas actors are known outside Nigeria except Omotola and ofcourse Olu Jacobs who we made popular with our Igwe roles we gave him to act over the years else he would have been like all those names they keep mentioning here and one keeps wondering who the fucck they are. grin grin

I used to hate Nigerian films. But some movies have actually impressed me. Sylvia, 73, King of Boys. Those had substance. Lionheart cannot compare to any of those stated. It is a good try but quite overhyped. It's a movie that doesn't engage its viewers. A real good movie grips you. Over 10, i give it a 3. What was really spectacular about it was the quality cameras, lighting and color-grading. The sound quality was good but direction was awful, those comic sounds should not be used for Drama movies. It's obvious, netflix bought this to support the Nigerian film industry, not for its quality.

Sorry no one listens to yorubas these days, try harder with your hate, ya all are mad cos no one knows yoruba crappy movies.

Izu Ojukwu us actually terrific. His movie isnt about the civil war. 73 was a story built around the setting of Murtala Mohammed's assasination. He is on the same league with Kunle Afolayan.

Keep hyping this Kunle slowpoke who remains unpopular but Genevieve just dropped one and its already a bumbshell everyone is talking about. Yoruba boy try harder, Igbos are clearly the pace setters.

I think we have come a long way and gained international recognition. Every country is known for their type of movies so comparing our Nigerian type of movies wouldn’t be a fair game. I encourage constructive criticism and not discouraging ppl outrightly from viewing the movie. I will celebrate our milestones and encourage ourselves to do better. My two cents

KingThreatzz:

Funny enough, i dont like any of Ebonylife films. They always miss the point. If we dont point out flaws in Nigerian movies, these people will keep dishing garbage and celebrating mediocrity. All over the world movie industries are developing and they start by having great storylines. Why should we be off?

By movies all over the world, go to the Oscar's list for world movies. Watch those movies and see why they gain lots of acclamation. Some even from countries like Egypt. The art of a good film is from good storytelling, acting, directing etc. We have some distance to go. With Genevieve's budget, she could have done way better.

The movie is not boring. It reminds of the squabble between two transport companies in Nsukka, Enugu State 16 years ago.

Its a great movie with many words of wisdom!! grin
I remember this squabble. the two transport company were competing for customers thereby reducing the tfare from Nsukka to Lagos to a Chicken change (I think N500-100). Students started going back home to Lag every weekends cheesy cheesy . It might not be up 16 years. Was still a teenager then.

leave those people shouting Netflix. As if Netflix is a standard for rating movies. they don't even know that there are worse movies on Netflix.
Its lack of exposure that is their problem.

Everybody has a "first". For Genny, this movie is her first as a director and is creditworthy. I don't think the people condemning this movie are wiser than Netflix that acquired the movie. Also, s way we underrate and discourage people's effort is very unhealthy. Here we are saying all Nigerian movies have a conventional storyline. I hope we also know that Some American movies also are having d same storyline these days and yet we come here and applaud them. Again, I don't think Genny was more interested in making a suspende- Filled movie, rather I think she wanted it simple but classy. if u watched or listened to her interview prior to the release of " Lionheart". She said she chose the cast to honor Pete, nkem and onyeka. They are are like pioneers of Nollywood and not just because she wanted the movie to be over hyped. She also said she chose Enugu cos that is were Nollywood began. I encourage u to see beyond d storyline. And for those that say "do you know what she did to get Netflix to acquire the movie"? Well, whatever she did( as u v accused) to get them to wasn't easy, even if it's sleeping with them. Encourage somebody, don't discourage us all the time. And stop this Igbo and Yoruba fight abeg

The movie is just hype....story was predictable and had no wow factor.....a 5/10 for me......only thing I really liked was that it promotes unity.

My thoughts exactly. I was expecting more.

Perhaps you saw another movie. The movie I watched was predictable, bad cinematography, bad directing, bad scene play and lack of substance in the story. There was virtually no conflict. It is the conflict that make good movie stand out. The actors were great, no doubt. Still, you should admit that the movie would have been better if Nkem Owoh played the villain.

Some actors are good in some roles. It doesn't mean they are below par with others. Is is how best for them to showcase their craft. She should cast Nkem Owoh as the villain.

A talented actor doesn't translate to good director. Forget what you saw in the on the credits. Genevieve Nnaji was practically involved in directing the movie. It was a bad job. Kemi Adetiba would have done better. Kunle Afoloyan as well.

You are the type that watched this movie with microwave , cuz I am sure is not same Lion Heart Neflix original that I watched that I are talking about grin grin grin

Psquare's role was so irrelevant lol its not by force to cast musicians
I didn't see his relevance maybe Genevieve borrowed money from him to shoot the movie and I turn he asked for a role (am just saying)

Lionheart is a pain to watch. I am only 30 minutes into it and it is 30 minutes wasted

What sort of mediocrity is this? Storyline is meh. Acting is pathetic outside of Osuofia and Edochie. It doesn't even deserve a stage play!

Biko, ebony life studio movies are horrible.

Hype , hype and more hype.

I enjoyed the humour in the movie.

The culture , the food and dressing was on point.

The story at a point was dragging on and on..but It wasn't predictable a bit.

PS Peter Okoye should stick to his day job, Phyno was just okay.
Onyeka was brilliant. Same as Nkem Owoh, Pete , Genevieve and the Hausa man, Sani.
,and the HAUSA man ? must you attached tribe to everything.

Cinema is controlled by Yorubas.? You must be high out of your goddamn mind.
Ben Murray Bruce started the modern cinema culture in Nigeria and since then many people from every where has dived in.
Yoruba own nothing.

The vast majority of what is internationally known as Nollywood today is igbo centric in nature.
The most internationally recognised actors, the biggest producers.
Even foreigners still believe igwe is the name for any Nigerian king.

I don't like to unnecessarily claim things, but sorry, igbos created Nollywood.
It has our imprint.
Whatever the likes of kunle afolyan is doing today is a fruit of the igbo nollywood.
He is leveraging on the markets igbos have long created with the movie industry.

The authentic Nollywood is igbo. Anything else is a counterfeit.

Shut up. Nollywood was born from stage play which the Yoruba writers like Professor Wale Soyinka, Ola Rotimi, Baba Sala , Wale Adenuga , Tajuddeen Adegbite etc of then where involved. I have lot of Old magazine play which my father then as a youth bought of Yoruba acting in prints and produced by Mr Adenuga from around 60s. Films like Saworonde, Egogo Ewo by the renowned Mr Tunde Kelani are historical Heritage. People like Fela Anikulapo, Sony Ade, Ayinla Omo wura, Barrister are world wide recognize. And we all agreed that the city of entertainment is Èkò. Stay in Onitsha or Aba and see if you will blow. Pirate alone go finish your life which we all know who the majority are.
