Lols...
You're right bro...
I wanted the phone to come out first before being the Hero...
Let's take for instance your wife is very sick in the hospital and needs money for treatment and you dont have at the moment, though you're assuring your wife you were going to bring the money before the week runs out..hoping to make a sale within the week to foot the hospital bill; and you prayed For God to help you...Unfortunately two weeks passed you didn't make the expected sales; Her friend now decided to help with the bill how would you feel, be sincere to yourself...
it's like u imagines alot bro

You never taught that that was God's way of answering your prayer. Let's think of it:
Being optimistic was in form of faith,
Praying to God was totally trusting God, and
The boy having the idea was way of answering prayer. It only didn't come through you but your boys. What if it were your oga. Remember, a good work from your boy is your credit. Think about it.

I went to the Stadium yesterday to do some exercise,
While I was at it, A boys phone fell in a sealed gutter. He and his friend struggled to remove the phone with sticks but couldn't, I decided to help out...we tried and tried but couldn't, the Stadium was beginning to get scanty...

The boy gave up and said he would come back later in the day with a Big hammer to break the concrete, all the time we were there I was very optimistic we were going to remove the phone and I was assuring the boy not to worry that he was going to get his phone..

After thinking and trying again and again I almost gave up,but an idea came to my head, "if we can get an iron hanger we can remove the phone" I told the boy,but there was no where we could get a hanger there or any rod that could help...

I got frustrated within me and decided to pray in my mind for God to help us remove the phone. While I was praying in my mind the stick fell inside the gutter, So ran to get another stick...

As I came back with the stick I saw one of the boys trying to put a nylon in the gutter,So I asked what he was trying to do,He then said he got an idea that we should put a nylon in the gutter then push the phone with the stick into the nylon and then pull the nylon out with the stick...Immediately he said that I smiled smiley and called him a genius.

Just close to us was a cloth-like material I rushed to get it and told them this one will be better, In less than 5mins the phone was out...

On my way back home I was thinking of the whole experience, A thought came to my mind " You were busy praying while someone else was busy thinking ...It kept on reoccurring on my mind; I should have been the one to get that idea if I had spent more time thinking than praying ...But when I got home I said to myself God answered my prayers either ways.... But then why wasn't it through me...

Should I have thought more on getting solutions or trust in prayers...

Relate this to life generally, most times we have problems and instead of thinking of how to solve the problem we tend to just be praying without thinking
From this experience I've come to understand that when faced with life challenges we should think consciously on solving the problem without neglecting Prayers...

HAPPY SUNDAY TO YOU ALL.

If I am understanding you right, the young man's idea to use the stick and the plastic bag together could not have been God's Answer to your prayer? If that is what you are saying, why are you saying it? Why is that not a way that God could have answered you?

If you understand the op's view very well, he was being competitive. "it should have been me". God doesn't operate in competition. As a matter of fact, competition is not allowed in God's kingdom. It is every man with his gift.
God can decide to use another person as the answer to your prayer. It doesn't mean you were wrong to be praying. But, it is very important that we separate the time for prayer and the time for acting. One should not substitute the other. They're both important.

Your part was to pray and you did well and the boy was to think and at the end the phone was out.

It is because God didn't use him to retrieve the phone but the other guy. The OP wanted to be the hero (the solutionist) but God chose to use the other guy and the op is now reconsidering his stance on prayer.

@Op,

From experience I will say, never underestimate the power of prayer at all times. Your prayer triggered faith which yielded result for the team. I relate this to everything I do. When faced with difficult situations, I pray for divine wisdom and breakthrough. This has never failed!

Friedrich Nietzsche postulated a theory about the non existence of God. He argued that based on the childhood neurosis of a child asking his father for bread, Man in this world created an imaginary who will cater for their needs.

To make this imaginary FATHER potent, Man stripped himself of his best qualities and put it into his imaginary father. Therefore whenever Man worshiped God, he is only worshiping his BEST QUALITIES.

He also talked about Slave morality and Master Morality. From my own point of view, Nigeria religious leadership explored this slave morality to their advantage. Hence Karl Marx said, religion is the OPIUM of the masses.

Professor Wole Soyinka in his book: The trials of Brother Jero, brought to light the mechanism used in keeping adherents under leash. Keep them dissatisfied so that they will keep coming.

With Nigerian pastor, life is all about warfare of spirituality and power. Village People on your matter, Spiritual Husband, first born curse, Generational curse and all sorts of things, just to keep their followers coming.

On the best quality of that boy is the ability to think positively and that ability he explore to get result. If a christian says it was God who brought the solution, is Friedrich Nietzsche not right to say that men in actual fact worship his best qualities whenever he worshiped God?

@smat 101: I know what you wrote up there is purely metaphorical and your aim is to stimulate valuable discussions that would promote critical, strategic and conceptual thinking etc....

Unfortunately, some people are busy analysing your analogy rather than the objective b3hind it. Hard Mirror puts up such article sometimes.

I for one agree with you completely, there's a place of prayer and a place of thinking...they can't be substituted for each other...prayer wihout work is nothing...the required work starts with deliberate and relevant thinking on situations at hand.

For years Nigerians and Africans at large have continued to discuss the problems in the society, when are we going to start discussing and taking actionable solutions?...situations are changed via deliberate and well thought actions not continuous wyning and crying....

The major problem with Africans is that we hardly think...

I once saw a statistics that scared and got me thinking; it says around 85% of people don't think, around 10% think they are thinking while less than 5% are the ones actually thinking....valuable thinking not mere wishes in this context....

Prayer is a lazy man's opium-- the solace of a man who has no confidence in his abilities. Prayers do not build bridges, road, iPhone, TV and other mundane materials that pretentious and prayerful Nigerians chase on a daily basis.

No country has ever prayed her way to greatness. They innovate. If action is needed in that process, no holds barred not excluding war.

If prayer is the key, Nigeria would be el Dorado. Don't forget that in Nigeria, God is only a means to an end. The true god that Nigerians (including the inglorious clergymen and women) worship is MONEY.

let's reverse the event
God decided not to answer his prayer but to use the event to teach him a lession that made him realise the epiphany he had at the end.

it's like when people come to a locked door they keep praying the door to open without seeing that God has opened another door by the side.
