The war started in present day Cross River State at Garkem town. Then at Obollo Afor in present day Enugu state. But those were diversionary attacks by Nigerian armed forces. The real war started from Brass into Port Harcourt and Eket (Akwa Ibom) led by Colonel Adekunle.

This is the reason I dislike this forum these days. There was a time this forum was heaven for knowledge and debates were allowed to rage. The first eastern region territory attacked by Nigerian forces was Bonny. There was nothing such as diversionary attack during the war. All were strategic in nature. I cannot agree with you that a war which raged from Obollo Afor through Nsukka to Lokpanta in Okigwe was mere diversionary.

The only main job performed by the people who lived within the estuaries was making of salt. Do you think being a fisherman entails catching fish with locally made spear or basket. The really fishing came with Europeans who brought fishing nets, hooks and lines to the region. Besides the nets, hooks and lines, what did your forbearers use in the occupation of fishing?

Sadly many young nigerians do not know their origin or lineage. The majority of what you call Ijaw if checked for DNA would have a huge percentage of iGBO matches. The Ijaws were massively trading and intermarrying with igbos for over 500 years, thats why a lot of the words in most ijoid languages are the same meaning in igbo. Please read about the Aro Confederacy, Nigerian government would never let the citizens know their proper origin otherwise the balance of things in the country might change.

Here is one fact you should know. Within the old Eastern Nigeria - A lot of the tribes within are displaced and are speaking a language that is not originally theirs or have moved from an original territory and is now occupying a territory absolutely far away from their origin.
