chisomdoris:
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Monday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the former Federal Capital Territory, Minister disclosed that the people of the state are entirely in support of the Ruga settlement project.

A raging controversy has trailed establishment of Ruga settlements by the Federal Government across the country.

Mohammed noted that the Ruga project, which the Federal Government recently said was voluntary for states that indicate interest in it, will help address issues of insecurity.

According to him, Bauchi State needed the Ruga project because the population of the state currently was about 60 to 70 percent Fulani.

Bauchi State, he said, will always key into any federal government projects.

He said “60 or 70 percent of the population in Bauchi are Fulanis and therefore we must leverage on all these.”

Stressing that he will not be Abuja governor, he said that he would always be with his people.

He said that he was at the Villa to confer with the President on some of the insecurity challenges facing the state.

“We have illiteracy, insurgency and so many things that are bombarding us in terms of social challenges and security challenges. Definitely we will do that,” he said.
The governor also pointed out that Bauchi State loves President Buhari more than any state in Nigeria, because, “The President is there for all of us, he is not a partisan President.”

Even he was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he said, “I am the leader of the people many consider more APC than PDP.”

The state, he said, will continue to support the Federal Government because, “There are issues that are within us and there are issues that are beyond our capacity.

“Therefore, we must establish partnership. I have come to discuss very serious issues concerning Bauchi because people in Bauchi have given me that leadership.

“I must establish relationship with the Federal Government because of the serious challenges that we have, challenges in development, social issues and security issues,” he said.

If you the governor of Plateau state and Bauchi sell out your people land for Ruga settlement through this closed door talk.

You have sowed your people and their ancestral land to Fulani jihadist.

AnanseK:

It doesn’t matter if some states refuse the Ruga ( ranch) project . You just increase the number and sizes of the ranches in the consenting states. The non- consenting state can always go and buy meat and dairy products from the ruga states. It is a project with huge potentials for development and export, let them reject it for sentimental tribalistic reasons , no problem.
it has no benefits to any state. They get free land, they don’t pay tax and price of meat and milk will not reduce only herdsmen will benefit.

power is transient, if you don’t use your heads even your British friends will abandon you. Tell Buhari to use his head else he’ll be poisoned in his UK hospital if the British become fed up, because when shit hits the fan no body will want to deal with 200 million black refugees.

Isn't it surprising that Buhari has the time and patience to engage governors in closed door meetings (blackmailing them obviously) about RUGA while inflation is in double digits & the economy is on the verge of collapse?

Truly "a leader is the reflection of the people that he leads".

Our youths protested against COZA pastor n his stepped down but they can't protest against having their ancestral land giving to ppl who are not originally Nigerians. This country has no future. The moment of silence is enough, a close mouth is a closed destiny. Are we going to sit down and bring our innocent n loving children up in such a terrible " space" called country?
This is deep.

Ranches are important to development. The Bauchi governor is right to accept it. Bauchi government had a ranch and a meat packaging factory. All the cattle in the ranch were stolen by military governors and others. States that are suspecious of everything Government can always opt out. No need for rancor, threats and insults.

Everyone can be a herdsman. It is business you can invest in, I can invest in and the state government can invest in. No body said keeping cattle is only for one ethnic group only. The building material market at Deide Abuja was built Professor Ikejiani-Clark when she was FCDA Minister. Up to today 97% of owners of that Market are Igbos, but no body stops any Other Nigerian from owning a shop there. It is a matter of interest in the business and choice.
