fromuk (with love tongue),

the only way China can win is conventionally. with 1 billion pple, they can afford to lose 300million (US population) and still hv two-thirds of their population left. Having said that, it ain't happening. The war would most definitely have to be nuclear and the US would win hands down. However, with mutual destruction, neither party will dare spill first blood.

we are wat we make of ourselves. If we submit ourselves to the west, then they will make us their slaves. it's that simple. If everytime u see oyibo in naija, say, on a bus, and you give up your seat for them (as I hv seen many times over), you have sold your soul to them. However, if you take them as a fellow human being, you gain their respect.

@Bankole01, was wondering why u have to post an old news but could now see the underlying factor of yr war with PDP and the president elect.     This information have been published number of times in 9ja newspaper and it's noted that USA doesn't meet president elect not even that of France "where it's claimed that lives and properties were destroyed as well" sad

@Iyke-D,  thank u 4 d observations and post.  But remember that 1st week of April when the Shanghai Stock Exchange index went down by single digits, the DOW lost about 30 points that same day due to China markets.  If China?Japan coughs, we get cold - in terms of financial only.  u could recall that most US banks have The Japanese and Chinese investors as major stakeholders.

He who donates the donates the Piper, dictates the music.

No matter what anyone said about China, they were able to assist us in building our NigerSat-2 after the Suffolk-UK firm assist with NigerSat-1.  Their product may be cheap but it's a safe haven for bunch of immigrants here with their products as evident with Walmart and 99cents Stores.

While not condoning evil or rigging, what have I to say if Gov. Tinubu and gov-elect Fashola can go and congratulates Yar'dua while Atiku and AC rejected the results in 14 states, does that means Tinubu and Fashola are stupid or decided to play along and get the much needed federal development for Lagos State?

Simply because diplomatic protocol precludes US presidents from meeting with elected leaders who have not yet assumed office, the armchair conspiracy theorists have begun to hyperventilate and fret about imaginary US disapproval of Nigeria's electoral results.

Calm down folks, and for those desperate to read hidden meanings into routine diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the US, perhaps you could divert your over-active creative talents to more plausible phenomena such as Elvis and UFO sightings on the White House lawn.

@All,
He is going there to cover up their bad deeds but God will disgrace them all themore, he is not a truly elected leader, he is a good candidate but badly packaged for Nigeria as a president, so bad the will of the people can not be freely redeemed so what do u expect from a fraudulent impose leader than a failure,

Let wait and see, time will tell

250 cars? That means that of Nigeria was very credible as I don't recall people burning cars like that.

Bush did not complete the usual ceremony on his way to the inuaguration as eggs were smashed at his limo and they had to race to the White House (See Farenheit 911, no actors, live video clips of actual events, super documentary).

The riot in France had nothing to do with rigged election but the disapproval of the conservative Sarckozy's open endorsement and love of George Bush. Sarckozy is percieved by the ethnic minority as not being friendly to their plight and also considered a racist. This is why they rioted when he won a free and fair election.

This is not the first time the ethnic minority and mostly black and arab immigrants have rioted in France, destroying theirs' and property of fellow poor and oppressed people.

Lets not go too far into comparing this with Nigeria's openly rigged (s)elections. (apples and oranges).

We can still compare, afterall when Abiola won a free and fair election in Nigeria we did not go about burning cars.

The point is that every nation has its own problems. You stay in US and yet Bush was rigged into office so let us compare our rigging to that of the US.

@AFAM: Your my guy jara, don't mind those people who can see the fraud on france election. Even George Bush stole his second term elections, he did not won anything, yet they are the first people to talk about Nigerias elections been rigged.

Imagine 250 cars burnts down, is that not even reason to declear a state of emergency?

Ha ha ha ha Afam you go kill me o. Me staying in the US should have been able to stop bust being rigged into office? Thank you for your confidence in me. You and I are not much diffrent people we are of strong convictions and basically good and caring for our dear nation Nigeria.

That being said, Abiola's free and fair elections and the lack of riots are not comparable to Frances race divide and white and black.  Besides Nigerians don't have many cars to burn. If you burn somebody's Tokunbo, you don kill am finish be dat.

I blame PDP, because if the rigging were as discreet as US's why would Bush refused to see Yar'adua. The rigging was so glaring.

As an African American woman who has lived in America all her life, I think it would be most beneficial if President Bush meets with President Yar'adua. I recently married a Nigerian man in January this year, and he and my stepson are expected to come to the states next month. During my two-week stay there, I saw many things that I would love to see improved (poverty, educational opportunities for all children, better transporation system and sanitation system, etc . .).

Why not talk to the President of a country that can possibly help your country? What harm could it do? I personally hope the President Bush meets with President Yar'adua after he is sworn into office. I admit, I , and many were very disturbed about the events of the election as well. However, if President Yar'adua is reaching out to President Bush, than I hope and pray it is honored. We assist other countries (war in Iraq) and many others for years now.

If President Bush will not meet him at present, perhaps it is because we have been fighting a war for the past few years, and we have our hands full (many of our sons and daughters have lost their lives in the war).

My sincere prayer is that both presidents will meet and talk. Many of us Americans really care about what is going on in Nigeria or Africa period. That is why we have missionaries throughout Africa providing whatever service we can. Just recently Oprah Winfrey opened up her school for girls in South Africa. America cares . .I do!
Re: Bush Refuses To Meet With Yar'adua by 9ja4eva: 11:51am On May 13, 2007
I do not think meeting Bush is ultimate at the moment. What do we stand to gain from their meeting?Maybe to cause more confusion so they can take away our resources again.Yar Adua needs to blank some people out now.Its too early.

@pmdaboh

I am sure you said your piece in good faith, i applaud you.
We have nothing to gain from our president meeting your president.
America only helps when its in her national interest (nothing wrong with that)
America only gives aid with strings attached (something wrong with this)
If we allow America too much say in our internal affairs, Moslem's and Christians will be at war( America will supply the weapons)

If missionaries and publicity stunts aka school for girls is a sign of America's care, then they had better keep their care to themselves! The best thing western governments can do for us is STOP interfering in our internal affairs, STOP serving as a safe haven for loot from African nations just because it benefits your own economy, STOP propping up unpopular leaders because it is in your own interest, STOP giving us booby traps called loans just to impoverish and enslave our children, STOP giving us $3b dollars and demanding $32b back in less than 20 yrs!

If you consider the war in Iraq as assistance instead of the illegal invasion of a country based on lies told by Bush then by all means Nigeria do not need any form of assistance from the US.

As a matter of fact the US benefits more from Nigeria than we do from them so what's all these assistance and aid stuff? It's like country A steals $1B from country B and give $1M as aid in return.

I hate when we try to flex our Bone structure instead of flexing muscle, It is clear that Nigeria needs United States more than anything.

I'm very sure that United States will survive without Nigeria; but can Nigeria or Nigerians say the same?
I don't think so! (Houston, New York, Maryland, Chicago and New Jersey say it all).

I repeat: The failure of this new administration has already been implemented and this (Bush refuses to meet with Yar'Adua) is just the beginning. In 4 years time, I'm not sure if much will be accomplished. We had the opportunity to turn things around, but we were too blind to see.

It seems to me that Yar'Adua's administration will continue to run around like a chicken with no head; and at the end of the day there will still be electric power failure, no water supply, no jobs, no food,  poor infrastructure, corruption and finally, kidnappers and robbers will increase drastically.

It is sad, very sad.
We have a very long way to go with a defective vehicle that is being operated by a drunk driver who has no road map.

Only God can help.

The US presidents do not meet with president-elects, why is that such a big thing to take?
Is there any real proof that there was a meeting scheduled in the first place?

If Bush call abuja today for a meeting with OBJ tomorrow, he wont just say yes come through would he?
He'll follow protocol like everyone else wink
