9Mobile has been taking N5 since time immemorial, transaction successful or not. Reason I hardly use it for USSD transactions.

Not done at all? The present administration is a big mess! It's also in this administration that service providers started charging 15 percent on borrowed airtime.

I don't really have any problem with the idea but my own is when they tax us like this where does the money go to. We can't even see any good change . Other countries tax their citizens and we see where the cash goes to but Nigeria is just way way way back. not a 3rd world country

There was a country....this government really think we are enjoying ourselves.

Filling statuons now charge N50 extra for POS payments plus another N52 for intra-bank charges. That is N102 for every pos transaction.

Una do well.

USSD airtime recharge option is one of the fastest, (in fact the fastest on some occasions) and the easiest. It also comes in very handy when traveling or stranded in a new location and you are in need of urgent top-up for either data or voice calls.

It is far better than even the banks’ apps and third party apps in terms of convenience, since you do not need to login and go through the hassle of typing a password. USSD does not also requires internet connection to get your airtime topped-up.

In fact, one of thing that makes it preferable to other options is that It is completely free, but that is about to change as banks will soon start charging people for using USSD to top-up.

MTN has started sending SMS to its customers regarding the End User Billing for Bank USSD Services. The SMS reads;

Source
from all indication, the new initiative is not only limited to airtime top-up but will include all the actions carried out using the USSD code. That would include USSD transfers and checking of bank balance. Infact, for every 20 seconds you spend on any USSD related action you would be charged #4(four naira).....really sad

Yello, Please note that from Oct 21, we will charge N4 per 20 seconds for USSD access to banking services. Thank you.

I don't understand as in every 20 seconds they'll be removing N4 or each transact is N4?
Exactly even with the usual network delays, one will still pay. Nigeria which way?

The typical ussd sesssion for transfers is about 60 seconds so to tranfer money you will spend and extra 12 naira now via USSD
