I believe the former President, in his capacity as a patriotic citizen; his thinking is above and beyond just party politics. Maybe the candidate the APC presented is better than the one PDP presented. After all they are Bayelsans. This is not party issue, it is about the contestants. If this is true, Nigerians should borrow a leave from this. Next time, the parties will present credible people and not just about godfatherism.

Chief Ebenezer Babatope, a former Minister of Transport on Tuesday said former President Goodluck Jonathan will regret working for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded governorship election in Bayelsa state against his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Babatope also faulted those calling for the resignation of Prince Uche Secondus over the party's loss in Kogi and Bayelsa, saying the APC shamelessly manipulated the elections.

" I hope it is not true that former president Goodluck Jonathan worked against the party in Bayelsa. If he did so, I'm sure that he is going to regret it" he said.

David Lyon of the APC was declared as the governor-elect after defeating Sen. Douye Diri of the PDP.

In all honesty, GEJ messed up. As a PDP leader in his capacity, he ought to have whipped Dickson into line. Either insisting that an acceptable candidate is presented rather than Diri or asking the NWC of the PDP to intervene. Backing the APC to win that election proves that GEJ is just like all politicians and has no principle.

For your record, if Timi Alaibe was PDP flag bearer, he would have lost as well. Bayelsans were/are tired of poor governance of PDP for years. The attitude of Dickson crown it all.
