Tottenham fired Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night and have named Jose Mourinho as his replacement. Express Sport has taken a look at how Spurs might line up after the next two transfer windows with their new manager at the helm.

Tottenham have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager following the decision to axe Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night.

Spurs went into the international break sat 14th in the Premier League following a hugely disappointing start to the season.

A spell of poor results, combined with over a month without a league win, led to Daniel Levy pulling the trigger to end the Argentine’s time at the club.

Jose Mourinho was the man Pochettino was tipped to replace at Manchester United last December after the Portuguese boss was fired.

Pochettino often bemoaned the lack of funds available to spend during his time at Spurs, with Levy often accused of failing to support the boss.

And Mourinho, who is used to being given big budgets to spend, is unlikely to be given anything significant to spend in the January transfer window.

However, he could have a major role in keeping Toby Alderweireld at the club, considering how much of a fan he is of the Belgian.

Mourinho was an admirer of the defender during his time at Manchester United, and is likely to urge him to stay past the expiration of his contract next summer.

He will have to be cunning with how he spends the money given to him over the next two windows, but is still likely to make significant changes to the current squad.

Hakim Ziyech is a man Spurs could look to bring in for Mourinho, as they are reportedly already interested in making a move in the Ajax winger to replace wantaway Christian Eriksen.

According to 90min, Tottenham chiefs were making plans to sign Ziyech before the decision was made to oust Pochettino.

Another man linked with a move to Spurs is Dayot Upamecano.

The highly-rated French defender has caught the eye of Spurs after they missed out on William Saliba, and with Mourinho at the helm it is likely they will reignite their interest.

Davinson Sanchez has been in and out of the team for the past year, and has been unable to properly maintain his spot in the side.

But at 6’2”, he is the perfect type of defender for Mourinho’s no-nonsense defence, and is likely to play a big part under the new boss.

Mourinho is a good coach no doubt, but with his controversial approach towards his personnel and Tottenham's lack of spending in transfer market I only hope things don't end quickly as they've started

let's just see...

He actually prefers 3-5-2 against top six teams.

I want to see a defensive shield of Wanyama and Sissoko with Ericsson sitting in their front as attacking midfielder.

Kane flanked by Son and Ali and given licence to attack will run any defence ragged. Feels good to have Jose Mourinho back!
