DanXplore:You are right about your experience but I believe that the financial problems of Nigeria's online retailers goes beyond customer service. I responded to your post because similar messages have been posted several times about Nigerian retailers when they are neither better nor worse than their foreign counterparts. I hope a stable and profitable one will arise in the future. |

mimilogs: This is what I have been saying. Many Nigerians hate Nigerian products and demand unreasonable standard from them. These same people will buy fake products from Amazon and blame the seller instead of amazon. Then, they will go back and buy from Amazon again. But if was a Nigerian company, they will do everything to bring it down. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Xisnin: I have been using Amazon for a long time now and I have not had problems. There may be a few hitches here and there but what matters is the swiftness and professionalism employed to resolve them. It is completely normal to have a few technical issues, every working organisation has challenges but it becomes a problem when the organisation takes a lackadaisical approach to resolve it. This is one of the key reasons why I rate Konga above Jumia. Nevertheless, when it comes to high grade electronics, chothing etc., i always use Amazon. DanXplore: More so Konga is truly African-owned unlike Jumia that belong to some Europeans masquerading it as an African company. |

Legendguru: About people returning products they already use after purchasing, it's not just an African thing. It's very common here in the USA. Both products bought online and offline. I remember when we came here, you can return unused products after months or years of buying such. So far you have receipts you will get back your money. But because a lot of people are also returning too many households items they already used, return policy here is usually fourteen days for offline products and maybe 30days for online products. For offline products, you must have your receipts. Most merchants won't refund you without receipts. It's only Walmart that will issue giftcards in place of your money if you return items anytime without receipts (1 day or after 4yrs). Back in the days I know Nigerian students who returned TVs to Walmart after completing graduate school (in Canada). Its not just a Nigerian thing, locals here do it a lot. I personally hate such and often discourage my spouse from returning items already used extensively because others are doing it. I am also an entrepreneur and I would want to be paid for products and services I offer for sale. |

DanXplore:Do you check a "seller's score" before placing an order on Jumia? I bet you don't. That's the main reason for the failed deliveries. |

Jumia should stop "pay on delivery." Unscrupulous and unserious buyers are taking undue advantage of that to cause them to bear unnecessary costs for shipping. They won't show when the shipment arrives, or will simply call for cancelation. Pay on delivery is killing the business and generating losses for the company. |
