I guess this APC is high on shit, they have been using CNG for cars in Benin even before Jonathan's era, there is even a filling station in Isior that sells CNG b4 AC and CPC eventually merged together.....they should stop boboing us.

But, this being the first time it was given the media coverage with the fg's stamp on it,coupled with a show of seriousness to make the masses benefit from it.

What else do you want. ?

Most cars in Benin city are running on CNG/PMS, and for your information, it is switchable, you choose which one you want your car to run with anytime you wish, it's as simple as that.
have u heard of engine lubricity?

My brother, stop answering them, they seem not to believe that it has been operational in Benin for years, and there has never been any reported issues or disasters associated with it to the best of my knowledge.

'The common man' phrase is the Nation newspaper's framing to make the news people centric though petrol whether PMS or CNG is for the general public.
Please see an alternative headline to the same story on Nigerian NewsDirect:

I guess the engine rating will be for Keke, motorcycle, generators and cassava grinding machines will be suitable for what they are proposing,.

Not enough reason. Besides you are selfish. What about security issues? You are not touched by the lost of lives which is deliberately unchecked by our security outfit? Say no to APC continuation until they arrest and prosecute these bandicts.

...Because they're introducing low quality petrol that would cause more pollution and even engine problems for cars? Car makers are making more efficient engines and even our current PMS won't operate some cars optimally, you're introducing lower grade fuels for these high technology engines. What is more, it creates template for the astronomical rise in the price of the current PMS. They would always tell you you have an option of buying the cheaper, lower quality one....

* Not that PDP is better. They are the same set of soulless criminals*

Right! It's just like in the US you have premium fuel and regular fuel. I hope they get it right so the 97 Naira fuel don knock engines. Other than that it's about damn time.

This isn't an issue of hate, 3 major problems confront the average Lagos car user daily I.e Bad fuel, bad roads and fake parts. The minister ain't gonna fix my car when CNG begins to take its toll if there's a side effect

1) Compressed Natural Gas is actually cleaner than petrol, so it's good for the environment.

2) Nigeria has much more natural gas than crude oil, in other words, we have more gas than petrol.

But there's a problem.

If you check my posts above, you'll notice that this is not a new idea. This issue has been talked about from time to time since the 1980s.

The issue is, who is going to convert the cars from petrol burning cars into compressed natural gas burning cars? Who is going to provide the filling stations?

These are the questions and unfortunately they have not been answered in this write up.

But he stated in the interview that there is a plant in Benin with 10,000 pilot vehicles. It means the know how and capacity is already there. Hope that answers your question

You don't understand. The first time that I saw a compressed natural gas filling station in Nigeria was in 1989. That's almost 31 years ago. How many of these stations exist across Nigeria today.

Peugeot had committed to making Peugeot 504 cars that ran on compressed natural gas, expecting that there would be filling stations across Nigeria, but how many of these stations are in Lagos? How many are in Abuja? How many are in Enugu? Yet this is 31 years later.
