Note;This isn't a tribalistic thread.
This comparisons is based on personal opinion and some fact from Nigeria bureau of statistics.
All I want to do on this thread is to show you what Bayelsa and Oyo state has been earning all this years, the difference, the development in each state.

NB:I'm a real Nigerian who believes in true federalism, I dont support the current system we have now, where the whole country depends solely on some people's resources and every state so lazy seating and waiting for oil money from the Niger delta.
Some 30 years ago Oyo state built the cocoa house from the profit of cocoa, the building which is well above $70 million,a business that can generate well over $100M 30 years ago should've obviously grow into multi billion dollar business if well managed...
But since the advent of oil,no state dey hustle again.
That being said, I think it's best for the essence of growth to accept our current status and work on that to be able to build a better future....

Summary:
Oyo state earns approximately 5BN monthly while Bayelsa earns approx 14BN.
Oyo employs approximately 2.3 million staff while Bayelsa employs approximately 1 million.
Oyo state have 5.5 million people to cater for on over 28,000 km2
While Bayelsa have 1.7 million in approximately 10,000 km2.

Conclusion:
Bayelsa state with far less responsibility and far bigger allocation than Oyo state should really be looking like a semi Paris.
If oyo state can achieve their current status and little economic growth,Bayelsa should be far better than Lagos or Johannesburg or any city in Africa...
I think we should start holding our governors and local government responsible too base on their allocation..
Thank you.

Your comparison makes no sense
Oyo and Ibadan are over 100 years old ...bayelsa is just over 20 years old

Its cost 5 times to do road in bayelsa than Oyo
The standard of living in bayelsa is super high compared to Oyo

Bayelsa is doing bad but don't bring Oyo onto this equation

Well I have no business with Bayelsa.

NB:I'm a real Nigerian who believes in true federalism, I dont support the current system we have now, where the whole country depends solely on some people's resources and every state so lazy seating and waiting for oil money from the Niger delta.

Well Everybody is a real Nigerian but be it today or tomorrow we are not interested in other people's resources unless your people are not economically okay to stand alone.

Cocoa this cocoa that....maybe money from the cocoa proceeds are evident in all the brown roofs in Oyo.

At the end Mr real Nigeria contradicted himself that we must maintain the current status.

Name your state that does not have brown roofs and it will still be less developed than Oyo state.
Remember that Ibadan,a city in Oyo state is more developed than the entire SE

We must accept our current status in other to progress, I'm from Oyo state and obviously we're not maximizing our potential and yes the brown roof is evidence of an ancient city and evidence of poverty too...it's no news that suffer is Nigeria...
Oyo state would've being a better state if we stick to cocoa and oil palm...
It's nobody's but our fault that we're lazy and waiting for Niger delta's leftover in order to pay salary and function as a state.

Seems Seyi Makinde has started to inculcate the spirit and habit of truth back to his people. Such virtue was lost many years ago.

The problem with Bayelsa is same as the problem with most Niger-Delta states: laziness and lack of ambition due to a sense of entitlement based on oyel and gas!

When zombies want to distract us from the ineptitude of the Daura dûllard, they try by distracting us with various stories eg Dieziani, PEJ, GEJ or in this case a tribal bigotry thread even though no Ijaw man has ever bothered to compare himself or state with any person or state in Nigeria. I'm not going to bother myself with that foòl who negatively stereotyped the ijaws as lazy. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, we see cases of ritual killings/murder almost on a daily basis here and hardly is a "lazy" Ijaw man mentioned as the culprit cool

Op, I get the message you're trying to pass.

And you are right.

All those states that collect oil derivation money are just way unserious.

Delta state, Bayelsa state etc should be looking like Dubai for real.

They should be the numero Uno region for tourism in Africa.

They earn so much, yet deliver almost nothing to their people.

I keep wondering, when exactly their people will wake up and realize they are being short-changed colossally.

Yes, there's corruption everywhere in Nigeria, yet in the midst of the corruption, what should filter down to the people is way too neglible.

The population and the landmass is quite small compared to some other states like Kaduna, Niger, Oyo and Osun states, yet you barely see any sign of development.

It's a shame and a setback for those clamouring for 100% control on their state resources.

while I've always advocated for resource control, I do believe the crop of leaders we have will still expend the proceeds lavishly to enrich themselves. Niger delta citizens should try to hold their leaders accountable. Their governors hardly have meaningful thing to show for the fat allocation they receive as it stands.
