Do you want to know for real education or to cast doubt? So that I can tell you the debt of detail commensurate with your motive.

Some of the guys here are not genuinely interested in learning what they are ignorant of, they only asked these questions not to learn but to cast doubts, their over bloated egos as being part of the so called big tribes will not allow them seek genuine history.

The history of where the Obasekis originally come from in Anioma is on the official Obaseki family website, same as the history of the various tribes that make up Anioma.

Rather than read and seek genuine history as told by the indigines themselves, you see someone from across the river Niger who hardly knows his own history arguing the history of Anioma with the indigines themselves because in their warped minds they should be able to decree anyone to become Biafra irrespective of their history.

Someone as illustrious as Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe said is ancestors were from Benin, you see a faceless person who probably has no history casting doubt on the Zik of Africa.

Anyone that seeks the history of the various tribes across the south south region of Nigeria can find most on the internet, written by the indigines themselves.

Even here on Nairaland you will see an Igbo arguing Anioma history with IKA people, you see Igbo man arguing the history of Ekpeye and Ikwere with the natives. So engaging them at times is for the benefit of those genuine seekers of history that may come across the thread.

History is nothing to be ashamed about, as great as the Benin empire was, other tribes (Ikas, Akures, Ifes, Izons, Itsekiris, Urhobos, etc) contributed and played their part and have become part of the fabric of the society. The Benins are not ashamed to acknowledge this.

Unlike any other places in Nigeria, Benin have a documented and written history spanning almost 600 years and if you add Ora history, Benin history is more than 3000 years old and you see an ignorant somebody from tribes that were lumped together in the 1900s by the British calling Benin small, Benin may be small in size now but there is no any other place in Nigeria with a bigger, richer history, the reason it's called the cradle of black civilisation.

Well from your submission, one thing stand out and that is the name Ewohinmwin...today Esan and it will be more understandable if we conclude that Obaseki has full ties with Esans. The rest sounds like make up of a sojourn to another land.

Benins can't be claiming Igboland when they actually reasons against same people. People that have been together for too long are known to have common understanding and struggles.

Why is this particular case difference...can you explain?

Well, I am not here to defend Obaseki's version of their history. With an upbringing surrounded by authors, historians and linguists, I am not new to stories like many people on NL. Be it Nigerian, European, American, classical history, etc,

But see the link below of Obi of Isselukwu. Scroll down on the link and see him visit the then Crown Prince Eheneden to get his blessings (as Baba was indisposed back then).

While Oba wielded influence up to Lagos, Akure, Otun in North Ekiti as boundary with Oyo Empire and yet you believe he could not do same in Anioma is beyond me. 100 years before this Ogbeide Oyoo case, an Igbo guy captured as a kid and sold into slavery, later wrote that he was an Ibo/Eboe tribe but a citizen of Benin Kingdom. He wrote extensively in London as a free slave and abolitionist. His name was Olaudah Equianoh, Any serious African curious about slave history should have read that book by now, As the first "first hand account of an African slave. But most just like to argue sentimentally than actually sitting down to read widely.

Remember too that several Obis/Deins of Agbor bore the regnal title "Gbenoba" or Gbinoba, Igbinoba. A very typical Benin name.

Benin are not dragging anything. or anybody -Just that nobody should be rewriting history just to suite the tribal population politics of today's Nigeria,.

British Royal family comes from Germany. But Germany is not dragging them. English people mostly came from Northern Germany and Denmark, Swedish Royal family is French. Nobody is dragging them. But they simply acknowledge their history as it is. Simple.

.
You are very correct.

Imagine if the Olu of Warri & Oba of Lagos did not recognise their Benin origin? Many Benin detractors would have been very happy. But rulers of two of the richest oil & corporate/business cities in Nigeria do. It's what made Oba Akiolu so unpopular among other SW Obas & people. Oba Oyekan of blessed memory also clearly recognised his Benin ancestry.

Benin origin people in Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Ondo, Bayelsa, Accra/Ghana and other places if added to those in Edo, Benin can never be called a minority tribe. This awareness has grown recently and Benin Youth are rediscovering this. In a way these people arguing without any knowledge have jolted us to see that we cannot be quiet while envious people seek to distort a great history recorded over centuries and narrated for several millenniums.

In Benin history lives and breath. Even in your morning greetings daily.

Link only showed coronation but in anyway all these are not substantiated.

History is not just something to fabricate, it is seen year after year.

Today a Benin man reasons like a Yoruba man and both agreed and understand easily same as an Urhobo man...this shows how history works meaning both have been in the train for a long time while In Igbos is purely the opposite as both never agree showing the history is more like business and conquest.

You cannot claim years of co-habiting and hardly agree on any issue, that simply tells you the relationship never existed rather it was hostile.

Both explanation says it all.

Can you tell us a little about the Issele–Uku Kingdom?

If you look at our history, we are descendants of the great Benin empire [/b]and as the history goes, on or about 1230 AD, Oba Eweka of Benin the first sent his second son, Prince Uwade towards the Eastern part of the Benin Empire first of all to check the influx of the Easterners into the kingdom and secondly to expand the empire. So Prince Uwade came along with his wives and some delegate warriors towards the eastern part, they settled here in the present Issele–Uku. So they settled and practised the same pattern of ascension to the throne like that in Benin. So after him, Prince Uwade became Ogewade and after him, his first son took over. So, that has been our brief history. We are descendants of the great Benin Kingdom.

Totally different from my question.

What happens to his names from Benin to Igbo.

Do you know the meaning of nduka or Ezeagwuna in Benin language...

Does it have any meaning there?

Why is there no single Benin name attached to him?

How do you correlate this two?

Sometimes we have to reason before typing...

More you didn't even answer my question.

You are irredeemable, you argue with Nnamdi Azikiwe about his history, you discount the history of Iseele-uku as told by the Obi himself, you wave off and distort Oluadah's history of his Ibo/Eboe people written in the 1700s, you say the Oba of Lagos and Olu of Warri don't know what they are saying, all these because you want to force Biafra on people at all cost.

You now see why people outside of the south east are very wary and sceptical of being part of your Biafra. Look at what you are already doing to people's cherished history, imagine if you now have the power to officially rewrite them.

Because of people like yourself, Biafra will continue to remain a pipe dream and at best confined to the present five states of south east.

I told you to scroll down clearly to see the Obi standing in front of the sitting of the then crown prince. I knew you would see coronation first that is why I said scroll down.

Regarding others, your opinion.
Anioma people live quite happily in Benin. You hardly see any difference. Until Biafra war, we hardly saw Anioma as Igboid people. They were Simply cousins.

As for the rest, your opinion.

To say Benin reason like Yoruba is funny .
Benin had several tribes in the empire. No behaviour is really strange to us. Our understanding of different tribes doesn't mean we reason alike.

Yorubas are used to central power. Being ruled by powerful monarchs. Igbo are republicans largely.

But you will see that Igbo towards the West several with Benin influence have more powerful or popular kings. Showing more centrality of power compared to the more eastern Igbo.

To show Benin difference to Igbo and Yoruba even long ago, for example while Benin banned any Benin man buying or selling slaves and no Benin man can be sold or bought, the Igbo and Yoruba and some other ethnic groups reached an agreement with the Oba to allow them sell and buy themselves.
So in that sense we have some similarity.

A French traveller and trader Mr Randolphe confirmed this in the 1700s. On his way from Benin to Ughoton Port, all the slaves and slave sellers were mostly Igbo or Yoruba. Empires give different people in it a certain autonomy.

In 1963, Oba of Benin led Midwest to break away from Western Region. Obviously Benin didn't feel joined at the hip with Yoruba even back then.

Our ways differed and still differ in some ways. But there will always be certain commonalities.

Quite delusional.

Oba of lagos, olu of warri been Benin or yoruba or any is undisputed. Never in my comments had I disputed such. I always maintain here that Benin and yorubas are same people likewise urhobo and Itshekiri....I am always fair in my submission.

For Bringing in biafra here, it is purely an anathema to have Benin in biafra. An ethnicity belonging to yorubas in biafra. We are not known for useless conquest and we respect boundaries and what people are. Benin is more of oduduwa Republic than any other thing no matter how the logic turns. Any igbo man laying claim there or by any sort is just looking for issues which nobody has ever did.

Moreover you tell ur pipe dream to an asaba man and get the greatest shock of your life and a big one. They say blood is thicker than water and not conquest of any kind.

No map has added bini to biafra rather I hv seen Benin in oduduwa map all the time.

I always separate facts from sentiments.

Dude anyone can draw any maps. Our history is well established enough. We need not add anyone.
In fact I am not even keen on Nigeria of today. But it has to be tolerated until the natural solution comes.

What has anyone to gain from claiming Asaba? Or from claiming any city? Any medal, money or what?

If I was to choose or dream up an African nation, it would be a small homogeneous country. Without the headache of tribal squabbles.
To each his tent.

But history remains history.

Unfortunately for you, Benin history is well documented and nothing you and anyone else can do about it now. If you don't like the Obi of Iseele-Uku claiming Benin ancestry fo his people, you are free to go to his palace and take up the issue with him, same for other tribes across the south south that claims Benin ancestry, you are free to take the fight to them.

This one is still talking of south south...Lol

Do you speak Igbo, do you understand Igbo, you bear Igbo names, do you study Igbo as language in your school?

The above answers your question.

If I am opportuned, I will rightly put Edo , Urhobo and Itshekiri in west ....that's the right map.

If you are really sound in your argument, all your facts and submission should be sound as a learned human being and not as skewed as a Nigerian.

You have to face facts and not emotion.

You must be delusional if you think your Biafra will go behold the current five states of the south east.

The creation of the south south is one thing Abacha did right.

If and whenever Nigeria breaks up or goes into Confederation, this is how current southern Nigeria will look like, the landlocked south east will form Biafra, south south coming together to form the Niger delta, and west will form Ododuwa.

Nigeria argument.

Benin to ogoja man...

U Sabi road to south south at all. How near and close are you to far away cross river.

Well I am not advocating for any lumping but simply Igbos as biafra is only. Agitate for Edo republic since you doesn't want to be in Oduduwa.

My argument I always maintain will never be skewed but simple, blunt and the truth.

Sit there and be shouting Niger delta when reality is far from you. For you to may headway, you must accept reality and face it head on.

How many hours will it take you to reach Akwaibom?

How many minutes will it take an Abia man to reach same?

Work with sound map and not emotion. Most of you guys are just ruled by emotions not faction ground. Biafra of today is Igbo and Igbos alone.

Same way others should learn to accept facts rather using Nigeria logic that is dead.

The south south coming together to form Niger Delta will be strategic for defence purposes in case our neighbours become over ambitious in the future as there is strength in numbers.

You sounding like someone losing the argument but I don't want you to.

I only want you to see reality as it is and not by emotions. In your south there exist many Igbo groups.

Sometimes you should bluntly face fact which is how real men survive. Bring to the table something more achievable and not baseless logic.

Stop annexation...it is evil but face the truth. I hold nothing against Edo, not at all but I see them same as Yorubas both in behavior and everything coupled with facts that both have kind of same history. I have seen an Edo person with name Ajiboye same as Yorubas. politically they are same in thought.

Be logical sometimes.

Those you would like to refer to as Igbo of south south, Ameachi, Wike, Okowa have severally said they and their people will want nothing to do with Biafra and they should be counted out. The south south will not replace the Hausa Fulani with Igbo overlord when they can control their various resources 100%.

Okowa never made such statement and hardly speaks.

Wike never said such. Amaechi will be quick to tell you he is an Igbo man even his wife is from here.

So your logic is useless. Stop arguing like a pained typical Nigerian kicking for facts.

You are now bending argument to Nigerian way.

Is there any Benin man answering Igbo name?

Is there any Benin man with Yoruba name?

Your answer is as good as mine.

Let's be logical.

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has dispelled claims of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB to the effect that Anioma Nation in Delta State belongs to Biafra Republic.

Governor Okowa stated that the Anioma ethnic nationality was never a part of the South-East region and does not subscribe to the renewed agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Governor stated this during an interactive session with newsmen at the Government House Press Centre Asaba.

“Biafra agitation, we have criticized it. Anioma land as it is said, from here, was part of Bendel State, it was part of the Midwest Region.

“We were never part of the South East and obviously we cannot be said to be part of them. We may speak the same language but we were never part of the South East. We were part of the old Midwest, we were part of Bendel, we are now Delta State and we are Deltans." he said

Gov. Wike: Rivers State Not Part Of Biafra

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stressed that Nigeria must remain an indivisible and united nation, saying the government and people of Rivers will not be part of the agitation to break up the country.Speaking Tuesday at the Sultan's palace in Sokoto when he led a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers and leaders of thought from Rivers on a Sallah visit, Wike noted that every nation in the world has its peculiar challenges

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKJUN 27, 2017

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stressed that Nigeria must remain an indivisible and united nation, saying the government and people of Rivers will not be part of the agitation to break up the country.

Speaking Tuesday at the Sultan's palace in Sokoto when he led a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers and leaders of thought from Rivers on a Sallah visit, Wike noted that every nation in the world has its peculiar challenges

The governor affirmed that the onus is on the leaders of Nigeria is to find lasting solutions to the various challenges confronting the nation, stressing that there are better ways to solve the agitations and problems facing Nigeria, rather than seeking a break-up.

"Rivers State and its people believe in the oneness and unity of Nigeria and that is our stand. In Sokoto, we have a father in the Sultan. In fact, he is a father to all Nigerians and he is a peace builder in this country and beyond.

"I have also been friends with the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal , since before his emergence as a Speaker of the House of Representatives and this will be sustained despite the fact that we belong to different political parties," he added.

Tambuwal, who accompanied Wike upon the visit to the palace, had earlier said that the visit could not have come at a better time than now. He expressed the hope that his visit would help to strengthen the bond of unity between the two states.

In his remarks, Sultan Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar described the ongoing agitations in the country as symptoms of the rot in the Nigerian system, adding that although a lot of things have gone wrong in the past, hope is not lost.

"A lot of things were done in the past by some people with impunity and nothing was done. That is why you find a shortage of good governance now weighing us down in the country. However, as it is now, no matter how bad your hand is, you cannot cut it and throw away," he added.

The Sultan called for dialogue to resolve all the misunderstandings and problems in the country, saying that Nigerians should work together, retrace their steps and move forward.

In that regard, he appealed to Nigerian statesmen to wade into the matter. "We are not short of statesmen across Nigeria and they should help the country by championing the dialogue," he said.

Those in Wike's entourage include former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia; former Acting National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secundus; former NBA President, OCJ Okocha; Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amanayabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja; Amanayabo of Abonnema, King Gbobo Bob-Manuel; and Oda of Abua, King Kelly Obunge.

Must you display your ignorance publicly, have you not be following the thread? Did you not read where Nnamdi Azikiwe said the old Benin empire extended to Onitsha and he was a descendant.

Your stupidity is legendary...so zik is now an authority....a man that Igbo don't even hold in esteem.

Okay show me evidences of Onitsha coming from Benin

Start from language, culture, foods and religion

If Zik is not an authority and the Igbos don't hold him in high esteem, I guess you are the one they hold in high esteem, you can carry on in your delusion, Mr Authority

Imagine you implying that Zik is stupid and by extension anyone that quotes him is also stupid just because you don't agree with his autobiography.

Am benin and we think think like a fucking weakling tribe like yorubas or a self thinking tribe like igbo, i support sharing the country into two halves north and south, i fucking dont support Biafra because the agenda is narrowed to only thr igbos and not the whole of Southern Nigeria
I Keep telling the Yorubas they are the issue of this country
I praise the igbo man more than the Yoruba people

So what the Bleep are you saying
