Let a "werey" Governor Wike be the Governor of Edo state. He would be sending the Oba of Benin to fetch water for him.

let oba of Benin do anyhow first, that is when he will know that. kneeling down by a Governor or President is just formality.
Bring your king and let me slap him...

rubbish

coming from people who say igbos kick their elders with left leg.

In Benin, the king is respected... if you do not respect your king or traditional rulers, benin do not do so.

You cant compare a political king and an Hereditary King. They are different. The Oba of Benin and Alaafin of Oyo are custodian of power and the thrown is well respected by the citizen of the locality. The Governor that would want to humiliate them will never be born....‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️
but a certain oba of Benin was removed by the British while the father of this present alaafin was dethroned by Awolowo

Every Kingdom is guided by its culture. Let the Bini culture be for the Benis and not be used as a yardstick to measure other cultures.

Breeze don blow, fowl nyash open; politics has exposed the hypocrisy, iberiberism, and irrelevance of Emirs & Monarchs in the Northern Nigeria, it has always been a hoax they use to deceive the south that North is united, united by terrorism and poverty I guess grin

And if the king is removed , who will be the king ? Do you know the meaning of a king ? It is not those political appointee in the north and southwest oooo. The king is the head of all the spiritual movement of the state , including the withces and wizards. If u are not initiated from birth as the king of all groups , you just can't wake up and be king. The withces will play ball with u, the Wizards nkor, the Asigidi nkor, asokpikan nkor, babalawo nkor, all will play ball with u and no one will even regard u as a king except the governor that appointed you. There several places ordinary human can't even enter I the palace. So, how will the new king is a mere mortal get there ? Or will the governor build another palace for him ?
what about the one that was removed by the British?

You don't know the Bini kingdom and the present governor. Obaseki is a prince from the Bini royal family so he cannot disrespect the throne of his forebears

Popular social media enthusiast, Tunde Ednut has stated that in Benin city, Edo state, governors kneels to greet the king but in other kingdoms, the king shivers before the governor.

Speaking in an Instagram post, Ednut shared a photo of Governor Godwin Obaseki kneeling before Oba of Benin...

Remember, nothing holds for aye. There could come a time like the days of the Jews in Egypt when a pharaoh that never heard about Joseph ascend the throne.

Recall during the colonial era one omonoba like that was banished.

Shut up and stop talking out of ignorance. Even as Lucky igbinedion (when he was governor) and his father (the esama of benin kingdom) were having issues with the late oba of Benin, it never crossed his mind one day to dethrone the oba. It can never happen. If you know the history of the Benin Kingdom, and the spiritual powers that follow occupiers of that seat, you wouldn't be talking like this

As Benin is, they already know their next oba (the first son of the current oba) and no governor or king makers can alter it.

That is not true, Obaseki can remove the Oba if he so wishes. The Oba is under the Governor. The palaces do not have those powers anymore.

But Gabriel Igbenedion had serious fight with the late Oba of Benin. Igbenedion even took the Oba to court. Anyways I respect the Oba of Benin and Alaafin of Oyo. Those Kings na Deities.

Yes, the Oba had issues with the then governor and his father. But go and ask them, body tell them. They had to ask for forgiveness. The oba never appeared in court.

Moreover, as a governor , you can have issues with the oba of Benin. But you can never think of dethroning him. Never. It can never happen. And when as a governor, you realise that you will spend maximum of 8 years in govt and leave power why the oba will spend years on the throne, you will maintain

What is this slowpoke saying? No iota of truth in the statement? You are blind to the picture of obaseki kneeling to greet the oba? Or you want to see pictures of other past governors kneeling to greet the oba?

No, the Oba of Benin is NOT an Imperial Majesty. Rather, he is officially regarded as "His Royal Majesty" just like several other Tom, Dick, and Harry.

The only royalty whom that title (His Imperial Majesty) is officially reserved for in Nigeria is the Ooni of Ife.

Stop appropriating what is not.

Using your picture example then Ooni is not an imperial majesty..

And how has kneeling before the king improve the lives of his subject or the situation in the country. Dumb asses with tiny brain and shallow minds all over the place. Do anyone really care about this farce or facade at this point?

you are just blabbing.. nobody dey argue if the Oba get spiritual power or not... but obaseki is stronger than him politically.. he can remove him if the oba trespasses.. same as Alaafin of oyo... kings are not regarded like before... but oba of Benin and alaafin are well respected in nigeria and Africa.. but that does not mean they cant be removed by governors...
.
Remember sultan of sokoto and emir of kano are the strongest monarch in nigeria, yet one of them was removed... so politics is stronger that monarchy in this era
