The Chairman of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria Rivers State branch Comrade Anthony Wachukwu has being arrested by the Rivers State Attorney General and transferred to the State CID. The arrest took place on the 27th of March 2020 at the exit gate of the state secretariat complex, in Port Harcourt. Report has it that he was taken to the state government house before being transferred to the State CID. Efforts to secure his release proved abortive by the state labour union stating that his arrest was an executive order from the Rivers State Government.

As at the time of filing this report, he is still being held by the police in the state CID.. The National Vice Chairman South South Zone, Comrade S. George has equally issued a statement regarding the arrest of the state Chairman and requested for his unconditional release. The state NLC Chairman Comrade Beatrice Itubo has equally demanded for the immediate release of the JUSUN chairman. The National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria have also being briefed and have also demanded for his unconditional release.
