How about someone like Akinwumi Adesina? Must nepotism be number 1 in Nigeria?

Dr Akinwumi Adesina is a proven administrator. He would do better than all those people listed up there

Since we are listing profiles here, let me drop the profile of Akinwumi Adesina for those who do not know

* Akinwumi Adesina is the President of the African Development Bank

* He was Vice President of Policy and Partnerships for the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)

* He attended a village school in Oyo and went ahead to graduate with a Bachelors in Agricultural Economics with First Class Honors from the University of Ife, Nigeria (1981) (Note: A first class from OAU is no joke)

* He was the first student to be awarded this first class in that department in OAU

* He has his masters from Purdue University in Indiana

* He has a PhD (Agricultural Economics) in 1988 from Purdue where he won the Outstanding PhD Thesis for his research work.

* He worked at the Rockefeller Foundation since winning a fellowship from the Foundation as a senior scientist

* His short time as Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria created the agricultural revolution we are enjoying today.

* He is the current President of the African Development Bank

I am tired of typing.

Nairaland is full of political neophytes. Adeshina will never be the Chief of Staff under this administration. Simply because the position is zoned to the North East just like the vice presidency is zoned to the South West. Shikena.

If you dash Adesina, he will dash you back with some change (balance)

Criteria for becoming the CoS to the president:

Who the president prefers - 90%

Credentials - 10%

For the credentials, I don't know much.

But if it is based on firmness, honesty, focus and standing up for the truth no matter whose ox is gored, Hamid Ali perfectly fits the socket.

If it is however on the basis of scholarship and experience, Adamu Adamu is the right peg.

Though las las, na who the president want, na him go be his CoS.

Migrating foreigners can cry blood, no one gives a flying fvck. cool

Why can't he appoint some people who have been licking his ass for so long that their tongues have turned green?
At least maybe then they can be able to afford chewing stick to rid themselves of the mouth odours they release anytime they come online

Pls don't bring Akinwumi Adesina into this! If this man should hold any political office again in Nigeria, it should be as President or VP. Besides he's doing better and is more effective for us on the larger platform of AFDB!

Buhari should shock everybody by making an Igbo man his CoS. Go for the surprise. Afterall no one expected Andy Uba to be OBJ's CoS.

No one knew who Andy Uba was before he got the post.

One of the reasons why I will soon get out of Nairaland is that too many ignorant people are posting stuff. People just grow up in Nigeria, get improper education refuse to research anything, are incapable of thinking and then they post stuff out of rank amateurishness and childishness.
Wetin concern Akinwunmi Adesina for COS to a President matter?.
Do you even know what the job entails?
It is not even a constitutional office. If I was appointed President today, I wont appoint a Chief Of Staff.
It is also an office that requires zero technocracy. In fact the best appointees for Chief Of Staff to a President are ex Military officers. The job is to control all presidency staff, administer Aso Rock, control access to the President, channel all reports coming from all organs of government and from the Head Of Service (who controls the ministries) to the President for information and decision making.

It is a very political and policy follow-up job. Presidents can appoint anybody Chief Of Staff and it is at the discretion of a President what to determine weaknesses he has that needs balancing by a Chief Of Staff. I would be surprised if Adesina would be interested in COS job and I would be even more surprised the President that would want to make him COS.
Imagine Adesina seating in a meeting where they are discussing how to deal with a recalcitrant governor, whom to appoint as minister or how to respond to the President of Chad? OR how to handle a problematical Senate President?
These are some of the day to day things that a COS deals with.
It is a very political job, a partisan job. It is not for necessarily accomplished professionals in economics or business. It is for loyalists (long term friends or backers) of a President who are capable in forcing all organs of governments to comply to policy directions.

Ol boy, why do you want someone with such a professional track as Adesina to be reduced to position of CoS for Nigerian President?

You are shrinking his capacities.

Let him grow in the international scene and head major global organizations. After serving the universe as a policy maker he can return to head Nigeria and will be a great value to the nation.
