I like to have dialogue with atheists that reason logically. not the vast majority of the ones Nairaland is filled with.

so, my question is, as an atheist, what your view on morality?

Therefore You and You alone should be and would be the judge of what is Right, and No One else?

If yes, Then You are and Have All The Rightness that ever was and ever will be! Therefore, you are different from us and above us and we should even worship you for you are even better than us who have both Rights and Wrongs with Us, actually more Wrongs than Rights.

I will never follow nor be under you though cos I have and know the All Rightness commonly called the All Righteous, whom I have seen and tested to be beyond perfectly Righteous and Good, and He is More than Enough for Me, whilst you are a Foolish Dust (not to insult but to point out your flaw) but you do not know.

My view is that a good basis for morality is well being. If you use well being as the yardstick with which to judge your actions, you will act ways that reflect it both for yourself and for others.

Do you need a bible to tell you that killing is bad? undecided

All the ways of a man are Clean (Right) in his Own Eyes; but the Lord (Himself) weigheth the spirits.

As is seen around you, a murderer/thief shall say he did no wrong but alas, he is Condemned when the Judge hath condemned him.

The Lord is Judge and after Him there is no Appeal, For none can overturn or overrule His Judgement.

The Bible teaches us how to evade and escape God's Judgement. And instead of getting Judgement we can get Blessings, Blessings and Life.

No, I am not religious. I don't think personal feeling should be a yardstick either.
Re: Atheists, What Is Your View On Morality? by karo93: 9:53am On Apr 24, 2020
The basis of morality is its effect on your fellow man

Morality, thus, consists of the urge or predisposition to judge human actions as either right or wrong in terms of their consequences for other human beings

Thus smoking is against religious tenets but doesnt make a person smoking ciggaretes inside his room bad

Disturbing people with noise they didnt ask for is not against religious tenets but is really an infringement on human rights disturbing the peace of fellow humans.

Killing is against human and religious tenets but is not wrong in wars both in religious books and human codes

Stealing hurts your neighbour
Bearing false witness hurts your neighbour

Following the laws stated in the constitution of the country of residence. Any other is as a result of emotions or personal experiences.

the laws of the Constitutions were propounded by humans, therefore they were also made from emotions and personal experiences.

Hence the Law of God which says that "Do unto others what you want them to do unto you"

Right and wrong is the basis of All Damning Judgement and it is going to be done by the Highest Court of the Earth, by the Very King/Lord/President of ALL the Earth HIMSELF, Christ Jesus.

The first Court is man proclaiming to his fellow man that which is Right and Wrong, then the structural courts of man and Finally, the Court of the Most High, The Owner of the World.

Is it not commonly said among you "my house, my Rule?" Therefore His House, His Rule!

And we have the advantage that the Bible has laid down for us All His Rules and His Judgements.

He who keeps the Law suffers no Condemnation of the Law

Fvck you

I was not ridiculing you, I was simply saying that you become who teaches you. Priests and pastors may be wrong and can be wrong and have been seen to be wrong but the Bible is Wholly and Completely True.

And not once has it been wrong or untrue.

So you may not listen to priests and religious people, there statements are second hand and hearsay but you can learn what the Bible says for itself directly.

True....just want to state that "my house my rule" does not mean morality..... Any rule that has no bearing on its consequences on man is not moral.

In Saudi Arabia women arent allowed to drive cars. This doesnt make driving of cars by women immoral and bad.

Its just a law and anyone who breaks it will be punished by the highest possible law in the land.

But morality is based on that which is right and good and check it out, is there anything which you have seen to be good which God had ever said Don't do?

God, through the Bible is telling us All the things that we can do, that is Good, Most especially as He has seen and we ourselves have seen that people on earth Love to Do that which is not good, even up to that which is Wicked above and much more than that which is good not to talk of that which is very good.

The Bible gives us the 2 scenarios,1) that which was good which made everyone Happy including God and made satan very sad/angry and 2) that which was not good which brought about tears and made God sad/angry and which made satan very happy.

A brief note on morality - Everyone should have, and practice good morals. However, of itself - morals are insufficient to reconcile one (restore friendly relations between) / to GOD because it simply isn't sufficient... "knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ..." (Galatians 2:16)

Fact! - "All our righteousnesses are like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6), "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

At the end of the day, at the end of one's life - one will still have the need to - like the tax collector in Luke 18: 9-14 - say "God, be merciful to me a sinner!" and NOT like the Pharisee who "stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess."

The Lord Jesus' judgment of the matter? Regarding the tax collector the Lord says that he "went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

God is the totality of the conciouseness of the universe.. personified..Not a man or human being...
We humans are all from the same source, we have to find a way to live in peace with ourselves and with nature..
The only morality is love...it should be our guide..
Not the naked body in bed kind of love...
