it disheartening to see all this happening at this point in time. Now I see reasons why United nations were evacuating their ppl from Nigeria, despite the fact that they were battling with high rate of the virus in their country. |

Oasis007: How can you be making an assumption and calling it the truth? Like seriously? So you think people get isolated because they claim they are positive? Isolation in Nigeria is only done after people have a positive test result, and NCDC has records of such people. Even if homeless people are going to be isolated, they must still test positive before that. Over 80% of people who test positive to COVID-19 only have mild symptoms. It's only less than 10% who need ventilators. The kind of COVID-19 positive patients who protest in Nigeria are people with either no symptoms or with such symptoms that if they were in developed countries, they would be asked to self-isolate in their respective homes. The reason why NCDC self-isolates every positive case is because the living conditions of most of those people will make it impossible for them not to spread it further if they are asked to self-isolate at home. 1 Like |

He's a failed governor, all what he knows is to embezzle, he should better beg FG if he knows he can't take care of the patients. |

Oasis007: So every covid 19 patient needs a ventilator. Bros na wa for u oo. This is the main reason death rate in Nigeria is high, and why many people are dying especially in the north. Most covid-19 patients have mild symptoms and can live normally like any other healthy person. But a small percentage need intensive care and probably ventilators, but Nigeria don't have the facilities to offer this intensive care and that is why many are dying. |

Angelfrost: The worst is that no other countries can come to our aid as this is a worldwide pandemic. Every countries are fighting the same virus so we are on our own. This is unlike the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and a few neighboring countries. It was easier to get international intervention then. |

Jelzin2412: Me i don taya to dey explain to people. That 1.2 million Americans have tested positive to covid-19 doesn't mean there are 1.2 million sick Americans in the hospital. A large chunk of that number are self isolating at homes as they have mild symptoms. They only take people to the ER if they developed some severe symptoms and that's the ones we get to see on TV. China built a 1,000 bed hospital in wuhan and they had over 65,000 cases in that region. So where did they put the remaining 64,000 patient? Asymptomatic and people with mild symptoms self isolate at home. The difference between there and here is people adhere to instructions. They know the risk of not adhering to instructions and spreading the virus, so they do the right thing and self isolate and then call when their condition starts to get worse. Though the government over there also have a way of monitoring patients isolating from home. Here in Nigeria that people fail to adhere to simple traffic rules. Here in Nigeria that someone would see traffic and then follow one way and eventually block upcoming vehicles. That's the kind of people u want to self isolate? The problem of this country is beyond just the government, but the government are not doing enough. I can understand the reason for taking every patients (even asymptomatic) to isolation centers but they need to make provisions too. And I can also guarantee u that there are some covid-19 positive rich people in Nigeria that are self isolating at home or private hospitals. If u have a big house with many rooms (or separate apartments in the same compound), u can successfully self isolate without infecting ur family members. 1 Like |
