She said could not feed her own mouth talkless of feeding the baby. But she still went ahead to make the baby where CD of N100 could have saved the day. Sister, call a spade a spade , there is no single justification for her actions. She's purely a greedy fellow influenced by making quick money from the sale of the baby.
If she has not been caught, definitely she will make another baby ,so she can continue to make quick cash. Simple
No woman is proud of selling her baby, she sold the baby out of love.

No wonder the trade continues, you support trading of babies. Were you traded at birth ?

Ohaneze should talk to their people.

Mumu shut up! I also don't see anything wrong in what the girl did, she willingly sold her baby to another woman who is willing to look after the child. Like the guy u quoted said, the only thing wrong here is that they didn't go through the legal procedure. Would it better if she had left the baby to die of hunger when she had an opportunity to "care" for the baby indirectly?

South east Region is poverty capital of southern Nigeria.

You can cry on my mention , it won't change anything.

130k shocked I guess the owner have never seen 30k in her life to agree for that ridiculous amount

See this idiot that's clearly feeding from hand to mouth is insulting south east.

The problem here is unemployment... if she had a mean of livelihood, she would have been able to cater for her child.
Being unemployed is the reason why she should have been careful not to engage in making babies in the first place!!
What stops here from peddling pure water or gala or even plait hair for a small fee?

lol....I am not defending crime and I am stating the obvious...... besides 130k is not too much to give anyone.

If I were in the shoes of the couple and had to take care of the girls child because she couldn't do so herself, I will certainly give her more than that 130k

STop trying to defend stupidity for pete's sake!
A human life exchanged life there... a human life and not guguru and ekpa! Take care of the gal's child? How do you know the couple where not simply looking for a baby for a voodoo ritual and a justification for obtaining one by their handing over of the 130K? undecided undecided undecided

I am sure you saw where I wrote "the process was wrong".......
The way I see it yes she sold her baby probably on the advise of the guy that told her to keep it.
She carried the baby to full term, obviously meaning she is quite capable as a human being, so suggesting some guy advised her, does not make her less culpable.
unmask:

But this is just one case out of several cases that won't follow this same script, but will still see a baby exchange hands.
It won't change what these young ladies have to go through. Do we keep blaming the young ladies for giving away their kids? Or how many of us here will be willing to take in the child of another.
There are processes to this (adoption) how many people actually know what that process is?
My point is there is a bigger picture and we should all try and view it from the side of the young woman

I understand the bigger issue you refering to. However, that does not make these women less culpable for these eventual criminal act. The lives being sold in this manner, matter just as much as their own lives do, and last I checked, the act of selling a human being for any reason is criminal.
If she simply did not want this baby, there are still churches, Abbeys, police stations, and orphanages where she could have simply dropped the child off. She made the conscious decision to sell another human being and that is criminal.

And if they had given her 130k would that have been bad as well?

The young lady was naive and probably saw it as a business opportunity to make some money out of the situation. But it doesn't change the fact that she cannot take care of the baby.

There is also the part of the couple being sincere in their plans for the child. That is another story

There is nothing naive about selling another human being, no matter how small.

BullPiss! Why in the world is killing the baby the only other option your mind can come up with?

She could have dropped the baby off at a Church, a Hospital, an Abbey, a police station.... come on people.. even in the hell hole that is Nigeria to some of you, there are still common sense solutions in the worst of situations. She could have put the baby up for legal adoption.

Why would she kill the baby? Why carry it to full-term only to turn around and kill it? And why assume this all had to end up in crime anyway? Isn't that brain-dead thinking on your part?

I don't understand your problem exactly......Have I defended the act of selling a human being.....I am saying it is time we go beyond the calling for the heads of people and start focusing on why they did what they did. The lady said she couldn't take care of the baby, you conveniently ignored that part and called it a lie but accepted the one where she said she sold the baby.

Not everything is black and white, not everyone can afford to take care of themselves not to talk of a child

When I was a little boy, I saw a woman with a child in her hand and was picking rice that fell from a rice sellers table into her plate. That is what she was going to use to feed herself and her baby

naive means she could have seen it as a way to give the baby a better life and cash out at the same time without thought to the fact that she was selling a human

Base level crimes such as these tend to be black and white.... If you cannot take care of your baby, give it over to people who can... not sell it off to slavery or to strangers who cannot be monitored to make sure the child in question is properly cared for.

You think unwanted babies are a new thing in Nigeria? Or in Africa? The woman in question had options -- if she did not know, she could have asked around.

That is Bullpiss and you know it! Give the baby a better life because all her life she has been that instinctively trusting of strangers?? Come on!

She carried the baby for nine months and had not bonded enough with it by the time she had it to realize it was human and not some alien jelly popping out of her birth canal?

. WHY ARE U SO THIS DAFT. THIS HAS BEEN AN RE-OCCURING ISSUE WE READ HERE ON DAILY BASIS, OF HOW SOME GIRLS DO AWAY WITH BORN KIDS IN THE NAME OF SHE DONT HAVE MONEY TO FEED AND SOME GO AHEAD TO KILL OR BURY INSIDE SEPTIC TANK. REMEMBER, SHE SAID SHE HAVE NO MONEY TO FEED LET ALONE TAKING CARE OF THE BABY.

You really don't want to admit you are wrong, do you? undecided undecided undecided
Crime tends to follow that pattern. That don't then mean we should stop punishing those who commit it. She has no money to feed is no reason for her to sell the baby or kill it. It's as simple as that really!
