The Various Stages The Average Nigerian Reacts To The Vera Rape And Death by Casan0va: 7:08pm On Jun 02, 2020
Note: This thread is not to mock or disparage the dead. Rape to any gender is heinous and should never be condoned in any way, shape or form. But this is to show the sorry state of things in Nigeria and how justice by the law is a sham.

These are the various stages the average Nigerian reacts to the Vera rape and death case.

First stage: Shock and Anger : Nigerians were greeted with the shocking news of Vera's death in the late hours of Saturday and reactions began to kick in on the early hours of Sunday.
A lot of Nigerians were shocked and could not believe that a female who went to the church to read her books in preparation for reopening of schools was brutally raped and savagely murdered with a fire extinguisher.

Second stage: Demand for Justice/Social media hashtags and condemnation all over the country : A lot of Nigerians immediately started trending the hashtag #justiceforuwa on Twitter with condemnation following strongly on Instagram and Facebook. Some people chose to use the opportunity to push their misandrist opinion on men and how all men are rapists, some others chose to demand for justice and several other ladies recounted times they were raped and kept silent. Celebrities like Geneviève Nnaji, Davido, Wizkid, Toyin Lawani, etc lent their voice to the cry of justice.

Third stage: Some misguided people begin to justify the rape and blame the victim : In every village/Hamlet, there is always the village idiot who behaves and thinks in a totally different and absurd way from others.
At this stage, they begin to ask questions like, "Why did she go to the church to read, didn't she have a hostel?", "Why did she wear skin revealing outfit?", someone even went as far as saying,
It serves her right, why will she be dating two roommates at the same time
, he immediately deleted his Facebook because of the backlash but people have his picture and if the Nigerian police want to do their job, then they will invite him for questioning.

Fourth stage: The cry for justice begins to wane as other 'trending' topics take over the airspace: At this stage, its been about 10 days or 2 weeks since the incident and there is a new trending topic about how a celebrity had a wardrobe malfunction or how a yahoo boy ran mad and suddenly the Vera story will be old news and people would talk about it less often.
