with all the rankings Nigerian universities still have a long way to go.
Go to companies like dangote cement u will see Chinese and Indians all over the place.Nigerian Banks depend on foreign expertriates for Ict solutions, Chinese pple are d ones doing major roads and rail ways, go to dangote refinery na oyibo dey in charge
The question is where are all d engineers being produced by Nigerian universities? Though some are doing well in their field, unfortunately a lot of them are jobless, some making photo copy after grad.
We need tangible product not ranking ranking all d time. The internet we use today is a product of research in a University. All d researches we have been doing in Nigeria what are the products?

I don't agree with the Bank solutions. Banks depend on Fintech companies for that. Fintech companies like Interswitch, Softcom, TeamApt, Paystack, Flutterwave etc employ developers from within the country and they are blacks. When it comes to programming... we still do it ourselves. It is construction that we are yet to get 100% black dominance. And gradually we will get there. Oshodi Interchange was built by 100% black company and those that did it were black Nigerians.

When i tell you guys Unilag is not overhyped, you all think it's a lie. The funny thing is most of the students are not even interested in hyping and all because they have seen the life in the city and are determined to make it to live that beautiful life the city of lagos has to offer.

When you see the kind of things that enter Unilag every night, nobody go tell you to be street smart to make it. Unlike some group of people always here day and night shouting gbagba gbogbo. I don't really blame them though. Exposure does a lot and Unilag gives 100% of exposure you can ever imagine.
You're absolutely right. But no hitting below the belt on Nairaland.

Unilag may be ranked number 1 or whatever. That said, the level of significance we ascribe to universities is more than they deserve. Entrepreneurs are either born or made. Most successful entrepreneurs that have Unilag as their alma mater would've still been successful had they chose a different university to attend. A good number of them came from wealthy or quasi middle class families.

I'm not saying you have to come from a wealthy family to be successful. The fact is there are a whole lot of factors that contributes to one's success as an entrepreneur. My message to young people out there who are yet to write WAEC and/or Jamb, do not choose a university simply because you've been sold the idea that only a handful of universities can make you somebody in life. Work on yourself instead. With the right amount of determination, prayer and astuteness you'll be unstoppable, irrespective of where you choose to gain higher education.
