Its rather amusing that you lump atheist/agnostic/unbeliever together implying they are all one and the same thing which they aren't.

I was born an atheist, as in one without a theology or religion, and was fortunate not to have picked one up in the non-Nigerian environment I was born into. My parents had no time for Gods, both being students when I was born, and the society I was born into was in the post-religious scientific stage where even in nursery one was taught to ask "who, what, when, where, how and why", instead of what one must believe, which has obviously made me an unbeliever who seeks with all my heart and soul and mind and being.

Moving to Nigeria post nursery was my first introduction to Gods. They sounded like Tom and Jerry, especially when Nigerians use Tom and Jerry as evidence that oyinbo rats talk, but this simply made me start seeking an understanding of what they might mean which meant reading the Quran and Bible myself by my 13th birthday, which further made me an atheist of the sort who did not believe as the Athenians do, which is the origin of the word, except in my case, I definitely could not believe as my fellow Nigerians believed, and still don't.

But one cannot deny the evidence that the Words in Books, which is what Nigerians call Jesus Christ, was indeed In the beginning and was with the Gods, so to speak as you'd find if you read Homer or the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and the Word belonged to the Gods, and all things were made by the Word and without the Word was not any thing made that was made. In the Word is life; and the life is the light of humans. And though the light shineth in darkness; those in the darkness comprehended it not. I mean, would we not all be dead if we did not read the little we have read? And can it be said that we fully understand it yet?

But its as Jesus is written to have said, ask and knock and seek, as in "who, what, when, where, how and why", with all your heart and soul and mind and being, and you just might understand how Jesus is indeed the Lord, and that one might have been an unbelieving theist all along.

I am curious to know why unbelievers came to that decision especially in a very religious society like Nigeria. I'd love to read different experiences.
