Tablets lost its identity in today’s world. Only the Apple tablets that are still carrying the torch.
Why? Most of what can be achieved on a tablet can be done so with a smartphone and given the rise in screen sizes of the average smartphones, there’s less compelling reason to own one.
Tablets are now more or less seen as an afterthought; serves only one main function- media consumption; and that too has slowly been replaced by our smartphones.
Given man’s rationality he sees no reason to spend another sum on a similar product whose functions can be done via a smartphone albeit with a little inconvenience.
In the area of productivity, apps are now better designed and optimized for smaller screens. But if you want to get real productive the computer is still the go to. Apple iPads despite the advances by Apple still does excel excellently as a media consumer device and not a real workhouse in actual productivity. Unless Apple brings more features from its MacOS to the iPad os i still don’t regard the iPads as the best shot at getting real work on.
Another point is force of habit- we pick up our phones more times in a day than we can remember so there’s very little time to be shared with giving some hands on with our tablets also. We’re caught up with our phones so much and even while using a tablet the phone still distracts us via calls, msgs, etc. which begs one to rethink why stress using both devices when one can serve as a primary.
So you see tablets need to get back and redefine its place in the mobile world only then will you see more people embracing it back. It had better do so cos the next big thing that’s going to be in peoples hands in the coming years are the convertible phones.

I have 2 samsung galaxy tablets that my employer (company) foisted on me and they are here lying fallow. I use my smartphones for my mails and when i need to sit down and work in earnest I deploy the laptop.

I wish I can sell them off without repercussion.

Bros I said I wish I can sell them. I certainly cant sell any of them because they remain company assets in my possession and should either depreciate fully or be returned if i am leaving the services of my employers at any time before full depreciation.

Too bulky. People are going for portability these days.

I see people carrying it especially making calls with,placing it on their ear as not so cool.

Again, theres really not much you do with them as they dont have a USB port (I stand to be corrected here though). The other day, i tried to use a friend's to transfer a document only to discover no USB port to insert my flash. Dunno if any tabs have them though. So... Its just a bulky crap. Mostly it toddlers that use it to play games these days

the only issue I have with tablet is the camera, they ain't got dope cameras both front and back..... I enjoyed reading with the tab back in school.

I only use my system when I want to do any Corel or photoshop work, those sars guys ain't helping matters too. once they sight lappy, you be automatic yahoo boy

You are right. The cameras on tablets are really poor. For example the Samsung Tab A 8.0 boast of a 2.0mp front camera and a 5.0mp back camera when phones of these days are having cameras of 24-48mp

For the sake of my eyes, I prefer tablets for on the go school stuffs.

Also, tablets are better for kids for gaming.

Phone has damaged lots of people's eyes. U see very young people on glasses.

Want to restrict phone for calls and small stuffs only.

I think because is too big and not compatible or comfortable to handle, money I go use buy that I rather use it to get a Laptop
