A Poem About The Holy Bible by OLAADEGBU(m): 9:43am On Jun 16, 2007
The Holy Bible

This book contains the mind of God,
The state of man,
The way of salvation,
The doom of sinners and-
The happiness of  believers.

Its precepts are binding,
Its history is true, and
Its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise,
Believe it to be saved, and
Practise it to be holy.

It contains light to direct you,
Food to support you, and
Comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveller’s map and
The Christian’s charter.

Here is paradise restored,
Heaven opened and
Gates of hell closed.

Christ is the grand subject,
Our good its design, and
The glory of God its end.

Read it
Slowly,
Frequently, and
Prayerfully.

It is a mine of wealth,
A paradise of glory, and
A river of pleasure.

It will reward the greatest labour and
Condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

The Book:
The Book of books;
The Book of life;
The Book of God;
The Bible;
The Revelation of God to man.

Warnings!

This Book will keep you from sin, and
Sin will keep you from this Book.

Reading and confessing this book will:
Terrify the devil,
Stupefy the rebellious,
Mystify the world,
Pacify the critics,
Ratify the covenant,
Edify the church,
Magnify the Word, and
Glorify the Lord!

@mushin,

I hope the poetry will encourage us to see the theophanies of our Lord Jesus Christ; how Jesus was concealed in the old testament and revealed in the new testament and to appropriate His sacrificial death and resurrection in our lives.

Christ is the grand subject,
Our good its design, and
The glory of God its end.

That is the grand plan, design and objectivity of the Holy Bible.

Nice poem. good job!

The 'poem' was collated from a number of Christian literatures of which I cannot recollect the sources. The unknown soldiers deserve the credit and to God be the glory!

INSPIRATION

When I am tired, the Bible is my bed;
Or in the dark, the Bible is my light;
When I am hungry, it is vital bread;
Or fearful, it is armour for the fight;
When I am sick, 'tis healing medicine;
Or lonely, thronging friends I find therein.

If I would work, the Bible is my tool;
Or play, it is a harp of happy sound.
If I am ignorant, it is my school;
If I am sinking, it is solid ground.
If I am cold, the Bible is my fire;
And wings, if boldly I aspire.

Should I be lost, the Bible is my guide;
Or naked, it is raiment, rich and warm.
Am I imprisoned, it is ranges wide;
Or tempest-tossed, a shelter from the storm.
Would I adventure, 'tis a gallant sea;
Or would I rest, it is a flowery lea.

THE HOLY BIBLE

Dear Children of the Earth,
From: Your Father in Heaven.

I want my words to touch your inner being,
I want your precious spirit's eyes to be seeing,
I want the world to know that you are mine,
And to put a tingle down your spine!!

You'll find my words in a special book,
It wont take long, just have a quick look.
There are sixty six little books bound inside,
You'll find me in there with arms open wide.

You will see that I sit upon my throne,
Searching the world for a people of my very own.
It tells you all about my worldly creation,
How it all went wrong, and the birth of a nation.

It tells of their lives of trouble and strife,
But mostly it tells of their faith in life.
Its got stories and proverbs and songs galore,
But about a special man, there are gospels four!!

At the centre of my book, is Jesus your special friend,
Although, he's actually there from beginning to end.
And on that day, when you finally realize,
That you need my Son to open your eyes.

He'll be there knocking at the door of your heart,
You only have to say "Sorry, Jesus, I want a new start."
You see that's what my Holy Bible is all about.
It tells that "I LOVE YOU ALWAYS," without a doubt.

SAMSON AND JESUS
By Reinhard Bonnke

1. Samson had fallen prey to Delilah's prank, turning him into a fallen skunk.
Half she had pulled him and half he willingly sunk.
Cutting the hair of the Nazarene had made him weak and unclean.
The Philistines grabbed and blinded him, throwing him into the lowest dungeon,
Where he had to turn a grinding wheel, watched by his young companion.
A feast was arranged in a hurry to the Philistine idol's glory.
The whole nation's nobility appeared, to have their god Dagon cheered.

2. As a special treat the heathen elite demanded to see the conquered hero.
They called him from the jail's lowest vault to mock the man as a zero.
Samson's heart broke, when the enemy cursed his God for a joke.
Stumbling up those dump stony stairs, quietly weeping without tears:
"Remember me Lord” was his stifled sob, "as afore, o please be my God."
"Let your Spirit come on me, as He did before, one more victory for you to score."
What Samson did not know, his Nazarene hair had begun to regrow.

3. Samson arrived to an explosion of joy, to be touched and kicked around like a toy.
It made him angry that they mocked His God; that in drunken mood, they spat on his Lord.
"My God, remember me, as I used to be, please do it again," he mumbled in pain,
When abruptly he felt something – the Spirit of the Lord was stirring in him.
Every cell began to swell; his breathing became unbelieving.
Nobody else seemed to notice it, but the God of Israel had made Samson fit.
Rivers of power flowed, and although blind, the restored supremacy showed.

4. "Where are the two pillars on which the palace does rest?" was his request.
The guide pointed them out and then Samson pressed with all his clout.
As if in an earthquake the pillars crashed, killing 3000 Philistines in clouds of dust.
Including Samson, the Judge of Israel, who strangely depicted, Christ Immanuel.
The sinless and wounded Jesus spread His arms out on the cross for all of us,
Bringing down the two pillars of sickness and sin, destroying satanic oppression.
Samson and Jesus – both died in their chore, but Christ rose from the dead, is alive evermore.

One of the greatest antidotes to spiritual anorexia is the discipline of daily feeding on God's Word.

Do you feed on the Bible daily, without fail? If not, why not? Do you feed your stomach daily? Which comes first in your life, your Bible or your belly?

If you mediate on God's Word daily, then you can expect to see a fulfillment of the wonderful promises of Psalm One. Check them out...if you can find the time.

"Recently I've seen your posts about false converts and see myself in the description. I try and try to hate my sins and it works for a few minutes, but later I fall back into the temptation and give into earthly desires again...I was wondering if you had any advice for me on how to train myself to get this hatred for my sins and become a real child of Christ." CB

I wouldn't be overly concerned about not hating sin. There's something in each of us that loves it, and unfortunately we will be stuck with it until we go to be with the Lord. However, being a Christian means denying ourselves the pleasures that come with those sins...whether it's stealing, fornication, adultery, gluttony, lust, selfishness, etc.

Here's something, however, that will help you. Make it your absolute priority to read the Bible every day, without fail. Put it before your food. Someone wisely said to write in the front of the Bible: "This Book will keep me from sin, and sin will keep me from this Book."

That is so true. I have noticed that false converts (those we wrongly call "backsliders”) say, "I still pray!" Of course they pray, but to their own image of God—their little good-luck-charm god. But they don't read the Bible. This is because it convicts them of sin. They aren’t excited about reading its words of condemnation when it comes to lust, or of Judgment Day, or of God’s perfect righteousness.

Take a moment to read Psalm One, and see if you can spot the wonderful promises that come with meditating on God's Law day and night. As these fruits become a reality in your life, you will have a greater victory over sin which the Bible says "so easily ensnares us" (see Hebrews 12:1).
