THE TRUTH ABOUT PROFESSOR WORUGJI AND THE FACULTY OF LAW, UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR...
As the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka recently stated at an art gallery in commemoration of his 85th birthday saying "...so when you read things on social media, take it with a pinch of salt, decide whether it makes sense because the person who posted it might have a private agenda" he certainly cautioned Nigerians not to believe everything they read on social media, he was not far from the truth and definitely referring to a post like this: UNICAL, FACULTY OF LAW ACADEMIC FRAUD: PROFESSOR DEMOTED TO GRADUATE ASSISTANT, THE OTHER STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. If you have not read this then you really need to check it out first before reading my post below. But don't be angry, The writers themselves know the truth. It is part of the war between correct practices and abuse of office practitioners and the puritans in the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar being brought to the public through the social media. The corrupt practices practitioners must use crude means, instruments and falsehood in the war since they have no weapons. I can only do my part by letting the public know that truth as anonymous petitions have no place in the world of truth!

Prof. I. N. E. Worugji's brief Bio:

He attended the Baptist High School, Port Harcourt where he had the WASC with a grade 1 in 1975. Went to England in 1977 on the State Scholarship for HND in Business Studies at the Stockport College and completed the programme in 1979. He immediately proceeded the the Manchester Polytechnic for the degree course in Law. The Law degree over there is a three year course(1979-1982). He graduated with a second class honours( 2:2) BA(Hons) Law. The Polytechnic later became the Manchester Metropolitan University.Thereafter He went to the University of Essex for the Master of Laws (LLM). This was 1982/1983 academic session. He completed the programme on the record time in 1983 and the degree was conferred on him during the 1984 Convocation Ceremony as the University practice. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984 after completion of the one year course of study in the Nigerian Law School. It is a fact that he changed his name. His name was formerly UCHENDU Israel Nsitelem Emenike and now WORUGJI Israel Nsitelem Eme. The change of name is legitimate and lawful but the detractors are not comfortable with his choice of change of name. He engaged briefly in legal practice in Port Harcourt before leaving to be a Law Teacher at the University of Calabar in December 1988. He rose through to the ranks and became a Professor of Law after obtaining Doctor of Philosophy( PhD) degree in African Law from the University of Ibadan in 2010. All his promotions passed through the University due process as his publications were assessed following the University procedure and found relevant to his scholarship. He was a Head of Department for 4 years and acting Dean of Law for 3 years covering 7 years in active management of the Faculty of Law. He was also a member of the University Governing Council for 4 years. The University never at any stage doubted his qualifications and scholarship. Current students and Alumnus that passed through the faculty of law, Unical will tell you he is diligent, a scholar, very straightforward and a man of integrity as He will never descend so low at any stage try to influence or interfere with the due process. I certainly don't know what his detractors are afraid of, to be busy writing anonymous and frivolous petitions to the University authority on daily basis and publishing senseless things on the social media about him. It is quite a pity that this level of senseless and ignorance can be exhibited by persons who claim to be in academics.

To confirm Prof. Worugji's qualification on the University of Calabar website pls click HERE or visit https://www.unical.edu.ng/staff/user/profile-israeleme

As you can see Prof. Worugji's academic qualifications are very clear; BA(Hons) Law, Master of Laws( LLM), BL for the Nigerian Bar, Doctor of Philosophy PhD in African Law. But his detractors are not telling the world that the institutions where he obtained his certificates have disclaimed him in any way nor are his qualifications not relevant to his scholarship as a Law Professor. All they say is Worugji is very powerful and influential.

Moreover some of his classmates who attended the same Manchester Polytechnic in UK and obtained BA(Hons) Law in 1982 are now very respectable Senior Advocates of Nigeria. So if anyone doubts he was called to the Nigerian Bar, or claims he is not qualified to be called to the Nigeria Bar should verify same from the Council of Legal Education instead of publishing defamatory statements and fake news on social media out of malice. So let the ignorant continue in their fooleries.
