The owner said i should come back by 5. So id be going back for refund. Yes they got me another phone and its all the same tin. D sticker has been cut, seal cut and has that celotape igbo marking on it.so they sell refurbished phones as brand new. I would be making order via konga or jumia
As I am seeing it you will still get a bad bargain again from jumia and co. Go to Slot, 3Chub or any other big retailer to avoid story. Also stop looking for that particular Samsung product, you can only get the second hand and not at that price too. Go for brand new phone of Redmi, Infinix or even new Samsung mid range at same price. And lastly, please spend at least 1hr in the shop this time, test everything testable; RAM, ROM, Camera, Speed, Apps, Imel and others before going home. Remember the consumer code; Caveat Emptor

Hey stop right there....I'm very experienced in this matter....let me just tell you fair and square now

YOU CANNOT FIND BRAND NEW SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8 IN 2020....

Bros the phone is like 4yrs old....this is my experience..last year I wanted to buy Galaxy s8 , I went to jumia they sold me one that was cracked and refurbished, I took my money went to Konga this one was refurbished and the software had even been rooted....I gave up after trying like 2 other shops and decided to go with S9 and this was in 2019 oh and big companies like slot and even Samsung themselves said they don't sell S9 anymore...basically what slot and Samsung stores do is that they only sell the recent model and lasts year's model because Samsung themselves stop production of older models, so if they are no more producing then how will new models be still available on market na ? ? ? so that means you can only get S20 or S10 from slot/Samsung stores brand new....S9, Note 9, Note8, S8 you will only find refurbished...I just gave up as my budget was not enough for a brand new S9 so I just got a refurbished one from a very trustable vendor and still rocking it till now no single issue...came as if it was new even... My point is either you give up looking for brand new Note 8, buy a refurbished one or find another phone to buy for new....Jumia and Konga also sell refurbished packaged as new...don't say you weren't warned and come back here crying..

But also Bros...you want to buy phone for 130k and sell for 170k ha...haba...even the S9 I wanted to get for new then was N150k and that model is even newer than this Note 8 you want to sell for N170k...your greed Sha...anyway na you Sabi for that one...

I've Sha warned you as me I hate seeing scammers get away with selling refurbished shit packaged as new

I am very devastated. Its a different thing if i got uk used. However it was sealed as brand new so i wasnt bothered. Not knowing i was scammed. The shop is owned by an igbo man and he claimed he bought it brand new.now im scared that the one they will give me tomorrow will still be refurbished and nicely sealed as brand new. I went to a shop withh my intention to buy a brand new never before used phone and i paid via real transfer .but look at what i was giving. Thats the phone as i got it from the shop before tearing away the nylon
Request for your money back..if they refuse-then report the case to the police.Make sure you take the receipt you were given for the phone.

One thing you must do while buying a phone

Give them your SIM card, let them insert it , let them boot the phone, let them download your contacts from Google for you and try charging the phone for 5 minutes to know how fast the new charger is.

These are all value added services a brand new phone seller does for you. Before he does all these things, you have seen any existing defect. You change the item.

There is nothing like SEALED ITEM.

If you cannot open it infront of me, I AM NOT PAYING FOR IT.

Hello nairalanders. I would love to share my bitter experience today. It all happened by 5.30pm. I had a chat with a seller on jiji and we agreed on a price. I got to his shop and inspectred and saw all phones were sealed. So a receipt was issued and it was written tested and okay. I paid through transfer and left thanking god i managed to get a brand new phone.

By the time i got back home, I tore the nylon as usual. However i heard a sound . I opened the box and saw the phone had flipped. I took out the screen protector, the phone was on. Inshort the phone was a refurbished phone. I felt sad and scammed. I called the shop and they start telling me sorry, that they did not know its refurbished .but i saw them all sealed in nylon. I later discover that the seal tape was missing. The imei sticker at the back was missing, lo and behold the screen was poorly glued. They promised to replace a brand new one. Now the question is how will i be sure brand new one is brand new one.

Nigerian crooks can get anywhere to get the seal sticker before opening it as brand new. I feel so stupid right now. All this happened at iwo road, inside a nice shop to fool ppl. I feel so ashmed. i paid 135k but got refurbished phone of 70k worth.

Make a report on Jiji. check for the link on the site and give them all the details.

Jiji is a market, and in any market you have legit and dubious people, be it online or offline. I've met and done business with legit individuals on jiji. There was a time I sent part payment for a product and received it in my location days later, and paid the balance all without physically seeing the seller whom I met on jiji.
wow! That's great.

Inside life!

That was how I walked into a shop in Computer Village around February, this year. (Wetin I see shock me)

The sellers have new stickers and boxes of Samsung phones with them.

They were putting Mint UK used phone into the boxes with chargers and earpiece before sealing it with a portable sealer.

After the packaging ehn, you wouldn't even know the difference. They're pros in the game.

They were doing it codedly but when they saw that I saw them.. one told me that I shouldn't worry, "I go do you well," he said, smiling sheepishly.

I just Smh and left.. The next shop I entered, upon sighting that sealer somewhere in the shop, I just made a U-Turn.

Since then ehn, I don't see sealed phones as big deal anymore.

There are reputable shops out there though. It's better to buy from a verified suppliers to avoid STT (Stories That Touch)

If it's a refund you want, lodge a complaint with FCCPC (Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission). You can contact them on WhatsApp via 08056003030. They will settle your matter. They settled mine when I was sold a substantard solar battery and the seller was proving stubborn..I got full refund. Ensure you have receipt of purhase.

Adios.
