Chevron Directors are EVIL. Is this the first time crude oil has hovered around $45. They are using covid-19 as an excuse. This trying period needs support from all Multinationals, not this EVIL.

Government should come to the aid of her citizens and disuage Chevron from this dastardly EVIL ACT

For your info upstream is the most risky and the most expensive and I can tell you categorically that Dangote does not have the financial muscle power to drill oil in deep offshore oil fields therefore there is no possibility of them taking over from Chevron.

Mention one Nigerian company that drills in deep sea or in waters beyond 300 meters dept.

80 percent of jobs in oil and gas sector are outsourced i.e on contract basis. So when a company wants to downsize their target will definitely be centered on the contract staff. And as you are aware, contract staff ain't eligible for any disengagement largess

Chevron as well should show clemency in dealing with these issues at this particular point because many are yet to recover from covid-19 after effects.

But you can't compare this kind of staffs with those ones on less than 45k a month...I'm very sure that a lot of them would have gotten some huge investment that will cushion the effect of this loss of the job for a while.so many of them have been traveling abroad before so, instead of remaining idle in Nigeria, they might decide to pick their family and relocated to where their service is needed but those 35-350k salary jobs can not do that....
So, don't pity or make jest of these ones because they have what to fall back on

Refineries are midstream not downstream.

Oil price in the market has fallen so low,way before Covid-19,now that Coronavirus is dealing with the world, you can imagine how lower the prices will go.
Now ur silly self is talking about diversify the economy, what is the major cash flow for Nigeria,is it not crude oil. If it was diversified, will oil companies not suffer huge loss and cut down working costs. So in your mumu mind, you now feel Buhari is the cause of Chevron cutting down work costs. Oga wake up.

Shouldn't the dumb Buhari had envisaged the fall in oil price before he decided to waste $10 billion on crude oil exploration in the north?

Sit back and ask yourself how far $10 billion would have gone with economic diversification.

You are a dumb idiot. But your dumbness has reached a crescendo and you are even confused whether you are actually dumb or not.

Oh sorry. You are too dumb to see the link.

What I'm telling you is that diversification would have rendered the job cut announced by Chevron irrelevant.

Now that there is no diversification due to buhari's failure,a 25% job cut by Chevron will have a remarkable impact on Nigeria's economy.

Hope you are now adequately educated, Mr Dumb?

Wahala dey for my Naija people. I'm guessing this is a joke. If you are serious about this, read my previous comments about sticking to facts not hear say.

MIDSTREAM: The ‘midstream’ segment of the oil and natural gas industry refers to anything required to transport and store crude oil and natural gas before they are refined and processed into fuels and key elements needed to make a very long list of products we use every day. Midstream includes pipelines and all the infrastructure needed to move these resources long distances, such as pumping stations, tank trucks, rail tank cars and transcontinental tankers.

DOWNSTREAM: The final sector of the oil and natural gas industry is known as ‘downstream.’ This includes everything involved in turning crude oil and natural gas into thousands of finished products we depend on every day...
