ASUU needs to be careful, based on the the current trend if they fail to do the needful they will lose everything to nationwide protest

Wisdom demands that they take the offer now and call off the strike

They are the next target, if they fail to maximize this opportunity it will lead to the Federal government proscribing all the Unions on campus through Executive Order

Let them appear real and stop this hide and seek game
careful over what did you read anything at all there

It's unfortunate that a president who was voted in based on his supposed integrity can no longer be counted on by the same people who voted him in.

"Educated" folks in this country shoot themselves on the foot, and that includes anyone who has an interest in education.

You cannot install someone who doesn't represent your interests as president and expect him to recognize/appreciate your interests.

It would be difficult for a president who has zeal and concern for education to fix the mess in our education system, let alone a 'certificateless' president.

We fool ourselves by expecting much from Buhari as to education in Nigeria, coupled with the economic situation of the nation at present.

We didn't achieve much financial influx during economic stability, so we shouldn't expect much now.

You must be joking or being plain mischievous.. You mean the union should fall into the set trap that necessitated the current industrial action..

If we are in a democracy, why are citizens protesting massively to end Police brutality, while the problem still fester..

Folks like you are the reason why the politicians are taking us for a ride. We should accept their crumbs, usual lies, and manage.

How will ASUU use their heads to get whatever they want if not by rejecting lies, and demanding for implementation.

I am prolly sure you are against the #EndSARS movement going on by your defeatist view.
Y'all know the crop of people you have in government today. And the most annoying thing is that ASUU members were instrumental to enthroning this Buhari government as though they had amnesia at the time they were voting and rigging this present government into office. Now they expect a Buhari government to do that which many of us know is impossible!

This is the seventh month students have been at home, many have even dropped out already while the ones yet to move on are going through a lot of mental tortures at home, and yet you think the purpose for which ASUU claims to fight is not being defeated already

If ASUU is a responsible union as it claims, this is the time to show responsibility by suspending the strike considering the impact of COVID19 and the state of the country at the moment. Insisting on getting everything now is akin to going to extremity and that does not speak well of the union.

And about #EndSARs protest, though I have my reservation about the wordings of the tag, I still understand the plight of the Nigerian youths even better than you who is clearly concerned about how you can capitalize on the protest to get more money for yourself through ASUU strike.

how much mor can students pay?! where; schools like FUOYE tuition is +100k exception to acceptance fee and other unnecessary fees, UNIBEN acceptance alone for students is about 80k with +60k tuition, not to talk of over 77,000 students who are staylites. No difference with some private school who have non-stopped calenders

Though these your claims are unverified, it may interest you to know that all these payments are done on the Remita platform which means they are remitted directly to the federal government's purse and not to the University.

Unless their withheld salaries are paid up until the last dime. I don't see them resuming even if other requirements are met.

ASUU are very head-strong individuals. FG keep using the same tactics (Hunger) on ASUU. Since I was born, the tactics has never worked even for once. Yet FG keep using the same tactics...bunch of block-heads individuals (FG).

Last Week, Federal Government made an offer to ASUU to suspend the 7 months strike.
As required by ASUU rules, branches are expected to meet and vote on government’s offer to academics.
Government offered to do the following:

- release 30 billion out of the 40 billion demanded by ASUU as Earned Academic Allowances EAA before nov 6 2020. The remaining 10 billion Naira will be released in batches between 2021 and 2022.

20 billion university revitalization fund to be made available by January 2020

- streamlining of EAA into monthly salaries. A committee will be set up to conclude their findings before 31st December 2020
-salary renegotiation committee to conclude before 31 December 3020

- UTAS to replace IPPIS for university workers

- payment of withheld salaries .

We are tracking resolutions by ASUU branches across the country. The zonal leaders will meet tomorrow to harmonize these resolutions which will be presented to government on Wednesday.
out of five terms only 1 affects students.

And they said they are fighting for us the students

Anyone who blames ASUU for rigging the election for Buhari should never be taken seriously. It is a lie taken too far. I will simply pose some questions that demands you answer them.

jmaine:

On election matters

Is it ASUU that has refused to amend and strengthen the electoral laws to make it foolproof?

Is it ASUU that arms the youths with guns and cutlasses to wreck havoc during elections?

Is it ASUU that induces voters during election?

Is it ASUU that chose to sell their votes shamelessly?

Is ASUU, INEC that supervises the entire process?

Jman06:

This is the seventh month students have been at home, many have even dropped out already while the ones yet to move on are going through a lot of mental tortures at home, and yet you think the purpose for which ASUU claims to fight is not being defeated already

Yeah, comfortably excuse the FG entirely from doing the needful, while we should cower in shame in shame and accept our misfortune. If the fight is being defeated, why is the FG desperate for settlement?

Oh! yes, it has finally dawned on them the sleeping and docile masses are willing to take them head on. I hope when the desired change comes, active government supporters like you don't benefit. Benefitting should be like a poison to you lot.

Jman06:

The impact of Covid-19 and the state of the country at the moment did not stop the government from looting Covid-19 funds, It did not stop them from looting returned Abacha loot, It did not stop them from maintaining their mega paycheck and allowances, it did not stop them from looting hundreds of billion in a farce school feeding programmes while students were at home. The same Covid Reality did not stop them from continuing the sleeze in their 2021 budget proposal.
You comfortably excuse the politicians, and demand the masses suffer in penury to satisfy the insatiable gluttony of our leaders. You are indeed one of a kind.

Jman06:

And about #EndSARs protest, though I have my reservation about the wordings of the tag, I still understand the plight of the Nigerian youths even better than you who is clearly concerned about how you can capitalize on the protest to get more money for yourself through ASUU strike.

The youth are on the streets for the same reason ASUU is insisting the govt. show cause to their demands. The masses have finally understood ASUU plight in entering into watery paper promises without necessary action seen.

Shame on you sir.... You are clearly on the side of the oppressor, eat and merry while it lasts, cos the citizens are coming for your kind.

How much did we pay?
Is there any Federal School that charges more than 50k? Minus acceptance fee o.

Even my school didn't charge 30k, acceptance fee included.

What value of tertiary education do you want to get with 50k, if not what you're getting?

European and American schools are very expensive, even for the citizens. They pay thousands of dollars for school fees.

We never pay 100k, we're screaming value for money. smh
