They keep telling them the benefits of giving their money to the church without reminding them that no matter the amount of money you give to the work of God , if you dont give your soul to him and live a holy life you are heading to hell. They are so much after the people's money that they cant preach the hard core bible truth so as not to lose them as members which automatically amounts to a reduction in their income. We are not suprised though , because Jesus forewarned us in the scriptures that in the last days many false prophets shall arise and shall deceive many in his name. Today the words of Jesus is being fulfiled as we see in most of these new generation churches. This doesn't give a pass mark to all the old generation churches as some of them have derailed too due to the influence of the new generation churches.

Most of this quote we use, we need to check under what context they were used!
If you tell me Past. Adeboye is much more annoited than Peter in the bible, I will tell you "you must be pretty filled yourselves. If Apostle Paul can afford to correct Peter, who is so much filled with the spirit, for hypocricy, then anyone can and should be corrected. There is nothing like an ultimate spirit filled human who doesn't make mistake. People here would have condemned Paul using "IGNORANCE, "TOUCH NOT" & "JUDGE NOT" as excuse in his days. The good thing is that Peter realised himself and repented because Paul corrected him. So many other people in the church must have notice Peters wrong but had prefered to keep quiet in other not to get him offended. But did thunder strike Paul for correcting him?



Paul could have kept quiet and the people perish if he had the same 'Judge not' mentality.
Jesus and John the Baptist, as an example, corrected the pharises, they saw it as been disrespectful(because of their ego) and got offended. We no wan make our oga for church vex abi.
Our perfect church leaders are humans, they are not perfect, they can make mistake and do make. Such mistakes creep in slowly that them won't or might not see it on time. There is nothing wrong telling them when this happens but instead we choose to celebrate them which is ok. But, who is beyond correction.

It is true that most churches are a little bit distracted with the prosperity thing while more enphassis should have been more on SALVATION and GIVING (ASSISTING THE POOR AND NEEDY).
Deut 22;28 suggest dedicating the tithe to the needy(fatherless, poor, needy, widow, stranded strangers,levite etc) at the end of every third year. That is, bringing the tithe to the church the first & second year and dedicating, by the church, to the poor in the third year. This is because the tithe was paid yearly then since their source of income comes from farming. Wether yearly or monthly it makes little differece, it suggest, averagely, 1/3 of the tihe should go for the needy and making a balance. This practice was done at a higher percentage in the new testament where Peter encourage everyone to live almost equally by having a common purse. "AND THE NEED OF EVERYONE WAS MET". And the couple who tried to be smart about it died for it by the Holy spirit. That shows the gravity of not being straight forward with the spirit, be it with money, the word, love for others,most especially the less priviledged.
How much attention is the church giving to the needy
How many of the churches members can afford their Uninversities (in the past missionary schools are (among) the best and cheapest)
How many horse, camel, donkey or luxury did Jesus have. Christianity is living a lifestyle of Christ; as simple as that. It is more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. NOTE: The fellow on whose account Jesus said this was a good follower of christ. Alot of people are in the church suffering while the leaders pretend not to see them. Been spiritual does not mean closing your our eyes to the problem of others.
