First of all, I am Edo. Akoko-Edo. So this thread is in no way derogatory intended.

I grew up in Lagos.

My people silence many N in words.

President : Preside-t
Intended : I-teded
Bank : Ba-k
Condom : Co-dom
Beans : Bea-s
Sent : Se-t
Sentence : Se-te-ce

You know what I'm talking about.

This is why it's so easy to identify the tribe that does this bank scam on phone the most.

After one don realize say him Maga get sense.... E curse the pesin.... grin

You are right, it's very common with the Edo people and it's funny

It's only common with Edo's from Etsako
I mean the letter N issue.
However other parts of the state have their own peculiar pronunciation issues, but so deos an English man and an American right, so what's all the fuzz about?

I don't know what's so funny...

Its all about the accent of the person in question... There are ways a Yoruba man will speak in front of an Igbo man and the Igbo would be laffing...

Does this mean Edo people can't pronounce Enogie, even though Enogie is an Edo word? What of Benin - how would the typical Edo person pronounce it? Bei? undecided

EDIT: Going by the examples you gave, I'm guessing the difficulty only arises when the N is following a consonant. Interesting. Well, every ethnic group around the world has their own pronunciation peculiarities, often determined by the rules of their own native languages.

What is know is that the Edos find it extremely difficult to pronounce L inside a word.
Eg. Girl is geh
Charles is Chas
Idol is ido
Ideal is idii
People is pipo
