Nigerian youth are too lazy!... Something that didn't take me up to 10 minutes to do, they are everywhere on social media crying wolf.. Come February 28, 2021, most of them will still not meet the deadline and still call for another extension.

Too bad! Even on this thread, you'll see them accusing the government of "inflicting pains on them".. Very lazy youth! But if it's to watch BBN and vote for their favorite housemates, they'll lavish all their time on such frivolities, but common to do something that will benefit them, they are attacking the government..

Seriously, only God Almighty can help us!
Brace up. You will equally be insulted for saying the truth.

This government sha dey find money at all cost.
According to the last NCC release, there are 198,961,361 mobile subscribers in Nigeria.
They have said ₦20 to go about the NIN stuff via mobile operators.
Do the maths

₦20 × 198,961,3611
₦3.9 billion just like dat

The more money they make, the less loans they take.

One chance for what?

This measure would close a loophole kidnappers and other criminals use...the pre-registered SIM, and make it more difficult for them to operate.

Better you ask your reps to make sure NCC makes the registration proccess easier.

Because even with biometric, there are hundereds of SIM cards that have been pre-registered...

Which is made easy by the fact that the laws don't limit the number of SIM cards you can own and by extension register for.

Under such a scenairo, someone can register 20 sims, and sell 19 to people who 'DON'T HAVE THE TIME' to register in person, and that includes kidnappers. and other criminals.

And when the police investigates....

Linking the SIM to the NIN makes it harder. People now have to register their SIM in person. That ends the pre-registered SIM loophole that was exploited by criminals.

It also prevents people from selling their SIM. Why sell your sim since it is now linked to your NIN? It would be like giving away your ID to all and sundry.

I agree this admin is not a good admin, but this measure would improve the security of Nigeria and make it harder for criminal agents to operate.

MODIFIED

1.Linking sim to NIN in essence makes your SIM a new ID card so to speak...meaning it would be difficult to sell your SIM to anyone...including potential kidnappers....because it would be tantamount to selling your ID.

2.Assuming a kidnapper kidnaps someone to use his SIM to make extorition calls for another kidnap victim...that adds more stress, and draws more attention to the kidnapper.

How does this make sense?
Secondly, even with the sim and BVN registration that was done, how exactly has government used this information to make a difference? If anything, insecurity is even worse. We can do a million and one registrations and linking, without the will to make a change, it's simply self deception.

P.S. - you can change monikers several times, we know it is you. Kontinu.

Exactly what I've been telling most of them.

They only know how to spend their times on useless endeavors.

Tell them to go and register for NIN, they will ask you when be the last day?

Can you imagine!

Come on that February 28 2021, so many of them will still not have registered.

If you ask them why, don't be shocked when they tell you that they have not registered because of Buhari.

MODIFIED 2

Currently, one can register up to a 100 SIM in his or her name and sell them off. These SIMS can then be sold on to criminals and crooks. Meaning that a kidnapper can make calls without fear of being traced.

This new policy makes it harder for criminals. Since now, every SIM one registers for has to be linked to the NIN...which works in 2 ways

1.People would be more reluctant to sell their SIM cards....now that they are linked to the NIN

2.Everyone has to use a SIM card that is linked to NIN...making it easier to trace criminals.

Someone used the bolded argument elsewhere...that all a kidnapper has to do is kidnap someone for his SIM. I answered that argument

A key loophole criminals use is

1.Using pre-registered SIM cards..to hide their tracks
2Buying someone's sim card (as seen in a recent kidnap case ..the kidnappers bought a SIM card from some random hawker. Which means when the police were tracing the sim, all they got was a hawker who knew nothing. ).

This new policy closes both loopholes.

1.Everyone has to register his SIM with the NIN
2.There would be no incentive to sell preregistered SIMS, since you have to add your NIN for every SIM you register...and selling it means you are selling your NIN....not a good idea especially if the buyer is into yahoo yahoo.....

You want a better police, vote out PDP and APC and vote someone better come 2023. Thank you.

BVN is kind of limited. Not everyone owns a bank account and a SIM at the same time.

Plus the target is more of criminals like kidnappers who use pre-registered SIMS . id THEFT AND YAHOO is another form of crime for which there are tools to use to stop them, and to protect oneself from them ..EFCC does catch a lot of these types of crooks (That's their main job...it is because everyone focuses on the poltical aspect of their job, that's why EFCC is perceived as a failure)

Linking all identifiers is excellent - From BVN to NIN to Passports to SIM Registration, etc.
What is madness is the timeline given and the fact that the NIN Program itself is so badly managed that it is madness to say everyone without a NIN will be blocked in two weeks time. Sheer madness. There are also other considerations, too many.

Yes, the 2 week registration thing is not only too short, it is too hasty.

Which is why the NA's call for a 6 month prolongation is in order.
