Lol even the boarder closure is a source of income to some people! But recently the influx of foreign rice into the country is too high, come see cars and bikes with loads of rice, but I can't and will never be an informant to enrich some custom officials |

agwom:The FG should remove the ban on foreign rice, our people are simply very wicked. Local rice that was selling for 13500naira a bag suddenly shot up to 37000naira a bag and stabilized at 30000naira a bag. Is that not wickedness? Let the market be flooded by foreign rice, that will further drag down the price of the local rice. It's called competition in capitalism. 6 Likes |

[Very true quote author=Ekakamba post=98416273] Most Nigerian packaged rice is totally useless. Last time I ate at Mama Nkechi's shop, my mouth was the processor, struggling to separate the stones from rice. She used to be everyone's favorite (for jollof and white rice), now 97.8% have moved to Iyawo Gbenga's shop (since 1818 she's been cooking foreign rice). [/quote] |

I wonder how these economic expert advance the president on economic policies.. The principle of absolute advantage must be adhered to.,... Why ban foreign rice when the cost of local rice is higher than that of foreign rice? Whats the logic behind that? The theory of absolute cost advantage star that a nation should specialize in production of product it can produce cheaper and much more efficiently and import those that will cost it much to produce,., instead of the government should encourage other local production that is cheaper like cocoa rubber etc and allow us to import rice since it cheaper than our so called local production.. 5 Likes |

Please let there be. I can't come and kill myself. The local rice I bought on Thursday only to make the first cook on Saturday and discovered it is far from "food" it is meant to be. SAND EVERYWHERE as though they want to turn my teeth to a quarry company. God forbid. Mind you this sand is as a result of the carelessness, laziness and lack of innovation by the local miller's and processors as the sand doesn't come from the farm per say. 1 Like |

TemmyT002:the way the processors and packagers usually package the rice always looks as if it is done for animals! Their mind is only focused like a laser beam on the profit they will realise. Naija! I don't know why they keep failing wholefully! Is it because of Blackman, black skin and black mind? Something China did (agric) decades ago, now they are dragging superpower with the USA. 1 Like |

bunnae: L o l detergent!!! It gets spoilt maybe the packaging is poor quality. You'll notice it always looks dirty, even straight from the sack. And they will hike the price very well, so that you will hate the rice even more. |

Instead of improving the quality of your useless rice, Nigerians would rather eliminate competition and force everyone to accept their mediocre rice. Omo, Nigerians are not humans. |

These processors are sabotaging the efforts of FG with their greediness. FG is also at fault for not controlling Price. Meanwhile, no one cares, nemesis is catching up with them. Maize farmers should also expects this fate for hoarding it. CBN should do on time and also increase the volume

Even when foreign rice was scarce I still got it though at a very high rate but I really don't care. Even with the period of time foreign rice was scarce... Nigeria Farmers didn't give us reason to choose them. Their harvest day always get as e be. I nor blame them sha. They should just work on the lessons learnt. |

Powersurge: Sometimes you cannot have an economic revolution without a cultural revolution first. If you are told smoking is bad for your health and you should chew gum instead to prolong your life then certain habits have to die. Our taste for foreign imports is one half of the reasons we cannot balance our books. There is just no way out of that vicious cycle with a cultural revolution. We as Nigerians just have to begin to like what we make and once that is established then we improve to whatever degree we want. That is how all nations develop. We appear to be a people of terribly weak will power. |
