As reliable as the Corolla, but bigger and more prestigious. It has an extremely, sometimes annoyingly quiet V6 3.0/3.3L engine and fuel economy mpg isn't as bad as most V6s. In fact pretty decent fuel consumption. Parts are accessible and if you're lucky to get one with an engine in almost pristine condition, maintenance would mostly require changing oils at recommended intervals and maybe suspension too. Handles well in Lagos traffic without overheating, provided it hasn't been abused. Big spacious cargo space (aka boot/trunk). And oh, did I forget to say it accelerates pretty fast too, thanks to the smooth V6. Finally, go online and you'll find that it was one of the top most reliable car in its time and still is till today.

Flaws:
¶Poor handling and cornering.
¶Exhaust hangs dangerously close to the ground, but I never recommend raising suspension as it may affect an already poor traction and stability.

PS.
If you have more cash you could consider the 3rd Gen GS which has more performance capabilities over the ES; and if you prefer a much compact performance Lexus s/c, then the IS is what is available. Pricey too like the GS.

On the SUV side, the most popular is the RX series. Others at the top of the ladder are the GX and the LX for men with deeper pockets.

Of course there are more Lexus makes and models but the ones mentioned above are the common ones on Nigerian roads.
