I AM SURPRISED BY SOME OF OUR RESPONSES ON THIS PLATFORM.

WHAT IS THE CRIME IN ASKING THAT WE PRAY FOR NIGERIA?

LIKE IT OR NOT WE WILL ALWAYS BE NIGERIANS AND THERE IS NO DENYING THAT.

THE SACK IS OUT OF PLACE IN MY OWN VIEW.

THE PROPRIETOR IS STILL OPERATING HER BUSINESS IN NIGERIA.

WHAT A BIG SHAME!!!

Whenever an American citizen wake up in the morning, they will pray that God should bless America.

This country is turning to something else and i dont think Nigeria can ever balance again, my cousin who works in a private school got back home after the proprietress sacked her for asking the student to pray for the redemption of Nigeria, and also telling the student to observe a minute silence for the COAS and the military personnel that lost their life in the plane crash.

Is it a crime to pray for one's nation again?
The woman is an enemy of the nation for her to have rejected prayer for our dear nation.

In America she cud have sue her proprietress for wrongful sack or Smtn. In Nigeria we have no laws protecting innocent people’s rights even at the work place especially private businesses. Ur boss can bully u and u have to accept it.

Prayer is not part of the curriculum. Is comprehension a disaster to you?

Follow rule and regulation of the sch. Education remains education don't bring sentiment.

perhaps she has been telling students to pray whenever she comes to class and spend much more time on praying instead of teaching.

human being will not say exact what transpired for his or her downfall.

Your cousin is a big fool ever.

Why leave your job description to organize prayer for a dead man and the country?

There is time and places for everything, follow the protocol of your work when you teach church you can pray

Outright sack is extreme. Was there a memo to the effect that prayers are not allowed?

I was thinking about it the other day, why do schools have to impose religious things on kids? You send your child to school to learn, they come back as prayer warriors. Same thing you see in organizations.

I once went for a meeting that wasn’t in any way religious and they decided to start with intense prayers. I excused myself till they were done. This plays out at work too. My boss wanted to make it an issue then and I told him it isn’t my job description to pray, it doesn’t make up my KPI.

If I were the proprietress, I won’t stop at sacking her, but I would have made it clear to you that such wouldn’t be allowed. grin

The problem with the average Nigerian is that we do not know when and how to separate religion from national or work affairs. We are deeply engrossed in religion that we do not know when to cross the lines. We bring religious issues to work, harass others at work for sharing different beliefs from you etc. Religion and religious beliefs are your personal beliefs and should be kept to yourself. Others, especially those who aren't religious or atheists or those who belong to a different religion, will find it offensive when you tell them 'to pray' because that is imposing your personal beliefs on others. If your cousin's school has a rule about no religious themes, then all coworkers should obey.

Finally, praying WILL NOT solve Nigeria's problems. Nigerians think that God will step down from heaven and solve their numerous problems when we are the ones to get ourselves out of this deep mess that we put ourselves in. Praying for Nigeria' is akin to someone who is hungry but decides to sit down and pray to Jesus to come down and cook for them. Laughable indeed. Telling or teaching kids from a young age 'to pray over Nigeria's problems' rather than teaching them to use their God-given brains to think out working and effective solutions to Nigeria's problems, just like other developed countries did with their BRAINS, WILL POWER and VISION, is continuing the same defective generational mindset of 'pray for Nigeria' that Nigerians have.

Yes Americans pray for their country to be blessed, BUT they pray at home AND go out there and build their country. Using their God-given brains, they effectively developed a working country for themselves and have maintained it judiciously. They DID NOT and DO NOT organize useless national prayer conventions and sit down for centuries waiting for Jesus/Allah to come develop their country.

Lesson learned for your cousin. Maybe at her next job in 6 months, she will learn to keep her beliefs to herself. Well oh no, over zealous Christians will see it as 'persecution against their beliefs'/'the power of darkness fighting against them'.

Sorry please for this.
This is what we are telling Nigerians that the white men especially the Americans don't see us as human beings but something else no matter how we try.
If for over 100years blacks in America are not free in their so called country what made you believe you will live a normal life in the white man land.
They hate all of us wether Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba they don't give a damn wether you are even a stunch Christian because even in the church there is segregation.
This is a wake up call to all of us.

What do one gain in praying for Nigeria?

Nothing

Think of any sector that's functioning today

None

Which state in Nigeria you will hit the road at 1am to travel like in some other countries

None cos we are scared of armed robbers, bandit, ritualist, terrorist etc

When you pray for Nigeria prosperity, do you get a share at the end of the year?

No. Instead they, dem know themselves, pocket the money to live large and fresh with the best of everything while we go still dey believe prayer will work the financial magic for us.

There is no need praying for a country where you gain nothing other than regret being born into such country.
