should we not take into account that the west was the point of import/export as it still is now and that means financial exchanges and taxes from the regions were also counted as western revenue?

just asking

Interesting, so The Eastern region produced the least revenue pre independence, yet the people that produced the least, will be shouting the most? Figures don’t lie.

They bring absolutely nothing to the table.

That is in POUNDS and not Naira.

Naira was not used until after the colonial period

This isn't true..

Going by this map, current day Taraba and Adamawa were under the Eastern region which was never so.
The Eastern region borders stopped at current day Cross Rivers state.
Also, Kwara was under the Northern region.

Google 1946 map of nigeria and educate yourself.

We have always gotten far less than we gave as shown from the pictures.

Only a cerebral leader like Awo could have made magic with the little we got back.

We still have leaders like that in Yorubaland and the only way they can come to the fore is if we dismantle this entity called Nigeria and we go our separate ways.

Awo was able to shine because of regionalism among many other things.

People like Tinubu are truly selfish otherwise they'd be clamouring for an independent Yoruba nation.

There is little Tinubu can do to break away from Nigeria unless we Yorubas are ready to fight wars with our enemies to quit the useless slave camp of One Nigeria.

Your obsession with the East will be your undoing...

The North gets favoured even far above the West and all you could say is that the East gets 5x what it should get.

Your hypocrisy stinks to the high heavens. Rid yourself of 'igbophobia' and live a healthy life free of BS!

Yes the north got the highest.....but check the revenue generated by the north then....still far higher than that of the east, the north only short changed themselves out of greed by chasing after oil.....the numbers tell the story, igbos are useless noise makers.

As a matter of fact, Southwest developed Southern Cameroon. From records, Southern Cameroon generated almost nothing but received much more allocation.

How does this make sense?

Why would they bring tax from another region and count it in another region and then input that as revenue from the region where they counted it? Lol

The British may be evil but give them credit for knowing basic accounting.

There's no need to do gymnastics just to dodge and wish away the efficiency and effectiveness of the rulership of the Yoruba people. Otherwise you'd end up with illogicality such as this.

Wow.

If no one will praise the western region, I definitely will.

West has been marginalized even before independence, yet we aren't crying everywhere.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, you are the best of the best, ever!

Awolowo was busy trying to Overtake Europe

It may seem hilarious in today’s Nigeria but that is the Truth

Awolowo built Ikeja including its industrial estates From the Scratch out of a Jungle where Elephants, leopards, and Gorillas were still roaming around, into the Capital of the Western Region

Awolowo was building Modern Cattle Ranches all over the Western Region with Cattle Imported from Isreal in 1956 !!

Awolowos Western Region had Television’ before France !

Awolowo had big dreams for his People, Singapore was too small compared to what Awolowo was aiming for
With all humility ,Awolowo outperformed the British

The dream that turned Lagos into an Economic Powerhouse was Awolowos dream

I am not Joking

What Yoruba needs right now is massive awareness campaign to turn the hearts of more Yorubas to favour their own country.

History has always shown that when Yorubas came together in unity, they achieved greatness.

That's what we need to do now. Not war. We don't need to shed the blood of any Yoruba person for this cause.

But if it becomes the only way, then I'd gladly give my life as I'm sure many Yorubas will too.
