Why not provide proofs it reserves the highest.

Would you avail us particularly the DPR data?

- erase the dot

It is your duty to provide us with DPR data that the SE doesn't have the most substantial gas reserves in Nigeria.

Already a petroleum minister has claimed that the SE is PIVOTAL in Nigeria's gas future.
DPR website has also alluded to SE monster gas reserves.

Now provide DPR data that shows SE gas reserves are miniscule compared to SS or even SW gas reserves

1. No official data yet to this effect.

2. Southeast has the lowest oil reserves in Nigeria.

3. Southeast has the lowest oil production in the country.

A state/region with the lowest oil reserves could not possibly have the largest gas deposit. The oil deposits is proportional to the amounts of gas reserve underneath.
Countries with large oil desposits has an equal amount of gas in proportion more than countries with small oil reserves.
Southeast, whether Imo, Abia or Anambra ( which has not been officially approved an oil producing status) with the lowest oil deposits have equally the lowest amount of gas reserves in Nigeria.
As we speak, gas consumption in Nigeria is fully an explorative activity of the Niger Delta. Although, in Imo state, the prospective of gas exploration has been highlighted but it is yet to commence full operation.
Let's stop peddling falsehood for chest beating purposes.

U are just a dumb mofo. I am a petroleum Engr and I schooled in Uniport. Ur analysis is just stupid. There are oil wells u can only see gas and no oil. There are oil wells that have gas caps that gives the oil well the primary drive in production before u start using pumps during pressure drawdown . So in essence there so many oil well drilled even after petrophysucal analysis using logs and history matching and yet u won’t see a drop of oil but just gas. There is no comparing quantity of gas with oil in a hydrocarbon formation. U r just a stark illiterate in that field ode.

I've corrected this error over and over. I don't blame people who peddle such lies. Anyone who takes Timiprye Sylvia seriously would always end up at the wrong side of events.

It was T, Sylva that started the sycophancy, only to what end we don't know. Perhaps to strike some chord and trigger some happy moments in the south east.

If any educated person ignores the direct meaning of the geographic word " Delta " and by extension " Niger Delta " only to chose Imo as an assumed region with the highest gas reserve, I must say such a persons education is a waste.

Seplat is establishing a 5 Million Per day Cubic ft gas exploration project in Imo which is due to be completed in few years time.

.. Here's the bad news. According to current mathematical estimates, if the gas is tapped at 5 Million cubic ft per day, note, there are talks to increase this volume beyond this scope. If exploration at this volume continues, that gas wey all of una dey shout will get completed exhausted by 120 years time

This is my advice to all the noise makers on all sides of this discussion.

If the gas exploration doesn't translate directly to simultaneous economic growth of other aspects of the economic besides bank accounts, then it amounts to nothing. It's Niger Delta repeating itself this time in Southeast. I believe I have expat advice to give any politician or governor on how best to harness this resource optimally. It's not for free. If you're an industry analysts or want this information, come and buy it

Outta ere

I have been reading the ignorant posts by haters and kept laughing and shaking my head until I got to yours. Even the deluded op doesn't know that gas occurs in two forms i.e. associated and non associated, thus one can be a major producer of gas without being a major producer of oil.

At the part in bold, only a heart filled with hate and ignorance can say such rubbish with confidence. You said the gas can only last for 120 years shocked shocked Let's assume that's true (even though reserves generally increase as more exploration are conducted until it reaches its peak, we all know that Imo/SE gas is still at its developmental stage which means it's far from reaching its peak) do you know what 120 years of gas earnings can do to a region if the proceeds are properly utilized? Extrapolating with today's technological advancement towards renewable energy, the world is even most likely to completely stop any form of hydrocarbon exploitation in 100 years time!

Nigeria began commercial oil production in 1957 and today major global economies are fixing dates on when they would stop using crude oil but there is no such talks about stopping the use of gas at the moment, which means that gas is now the future while oil era is gone just like how coal became redundant!

If you think that our resources will be exploited and our region ra.ped the way Niger Delta was abused, then you're not observant of how the dynamic is changing fast. We Igbos will own our gas and use it for the development of our region. Our resources will never be used to develop other regions while we remain neglected just like Niger Delta, mark it today, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!

The Anambra Basin is a hydrocarbon rich inland sedimentary basin which covers about 3,000 square kilometres and has a sedimentary thickness of about 9km with estimated gas reserves of 10 trillion cubic feet and 1 billion or more barrels of crude oil. At Ugwuoba and Igboariam gas fields successful exploration of gas was conducted with positive results.
Go and sit down. Anambra is not officially recognized. There are several basins yet unapproved.

PresidentBuBu:
Approved gas reserves by DPR in 2018
Just one region of the state accounted for about 70% of reserves
The fact that an oil block has 4003 BSCF Gas reserves doesn't necessarily mean that it has more gas than others with Associated or Non Associated Gas.
You can't compare just 1oil block.

I debunked your lies that it is connecting to NLNG.
SEPLAT on its website made reference to alternative cooking gas. The gas will not be piped to anywhere but for household purposes in Imo.
FYI, Ondo is also rich in gas but won't boastfully say it's the largest because there's no data to back it up.

What is this obsession and blind hatred for the south east?
Whether they have the largest or smallest gas reserves is not important.
These people want to leave. Let them go in peace so that the rest of Nigeria can get to renegotiating their existence.
Na wetin?!
Pharoah! Let the South East go. They have proven that they are a capable lot. With or without gas reserves. Biafra will thrive.
So also, a Nigeria with 50 million less population of people who hate it with every fibre of their being.
It can be a win -win for both sides.
Enough!

How very selfish of you to think you can use oil and gas resources of others to develop your region, build infrastructures and pay civil servants. Including Dams from other regions to generate electricity into your homes but won't allow your 5 lighters of gas to others who have benefited you.
You are consequential and every fart of gas in the SE will be piped to as far as maiduguri by NNPC.

1) The Obiafu-Obrikom gas pipeline is one of the many pipelines that feeds gas to the NLNG.
https://www.nigerialng.com/operations-strategies/Pages/Gas-Supply.aspx

The NAOC-JV supplies gas to NLNG from its Obiafu-Obrikom (OB-OB) Integrated Gas Supply centre which receives gas from a wide range of fields including Idu, Akri, Kwale, etc.
Once completed, the Assa North gas project will among other things be linked to that Pipeline.
