BAUCHI, Nigeria (AP) — Police say attackers killed at least 16 people and burned down 20 houses in a northern Nigerian town with a history of sectarian violence.
The Bauchi state police chief told The Associated Press on Friday that the attack took place around dawn near Tafawa Balewa town.
Amanam Abakasanga said most of the victims are of the Sayawa ethnic group comprised mainly of Christians.
The Sayawas are in the majority in the town and its surrounding villages, but their traditional rulers have been of the predominantly Muslim Fulani ethnic group.
The Sayawas have demanded a separate traditional ruler, which has led to attacks and counterattacks over the past two decades.

Don't you realize that he is in Obudu on retreat where he is addressing more pressing national issues such as application of zoning in determining who the Senate President, the Speaker e.t.c will be? How to share the loot is much more important than these security problem from GEJ's stand point.

They are a conquered people. They have to submit to their new rulers, just like the Yorubas of Kwara had to do so.

The Yorubas of Ilorin would be more apt. Other Yoruba towns like Ofa, Omu-Aran etc have nothing to do with the emir.

It would be unfair to grant this people their wish IMHO. The status quo as at the period of colonialism must be maintained unfortunately.
