if they see me coding then they will start saying jobless boy you do nothing rather than just pressing computer.you better go and learn any handwort which really really discourage me seriously it even makes me feel like I am just wasting my time..
please I need your advice on what to do about it I am really depressed

Tell them about Paystack and other companies built by young people that have raised millions of dollars in this same Nigeria.

Their opinion is an insight into their level of exposure.

What do you currently code?

I'll advise you hasten whatever you are coding, or monetize the ones you are done with already. Don't waste all your life on the main. Make small chops and resell. When it starts bringing morning, your papa go begin relate with you like age mates.

The thing is North doesn't have a good representation in Tech, Exposure to technology and it's capabilities at all, hence the doubt from your Family.


Remember, this is your race, not your family's.

Maybe you can be coding and juggling it with meshai business just to keep them off your back. Your environment is simply not in tune with the path you are walking, it shouldn’t discourage unless your parents start threatening to throw you into the streets if you don’t get a handwork; otherwise that shouldn’t bother you. You know better than them(in this area at least).
It’s not like plan to source for clients from your hood when it’s time to start making money.

This is not only a Northern thing as some people pointed out above.
This is more of a Nigerian thingy.
Most people believe anyone with a laptop is into some shady business online (Devil punish fraudsters and scammer).

Never give up in your dreams.
Keep learning,

They are not taking you seriously cause whatever you are coding in that computer is not bringing money When you start making money from coding, the respect would come back.
